Angela Harris is the Founder and She-EO of Kokopelli Marketing Communications. She is an accomplished producer, writer, marketing communications and business professional with experience across media platforms, having worked with corporate and nonprofit organizations globally. She was motivated to see more diversity and inclusion in media. Her eclectic experience includes work in higher education academia, video & audio production, and DEI +Wellness training. Angela has held leadership roles at some of the most iconic global brands to include: Apple Inc., Black Entertainment Television, Inc., Discovery Communications Inc., Public Access Television of Washington, DC, Sirius XM Satellite Radio, and the Smithsonian Institution’s National Museum of African American History & Culture where she was instrumental in creating the branding and communications strategy for its opening. In the field of academia, Angela has developed and taught advertising, business communications, marketing, social justice, and public relations courses at leading Universities to include Howard University, The George Washington University School of Business, and Trinity Washington University where she also served as Chair and Director of the Journalism and Media Studies program. She has taught in both graduate and undergraduate level programs and currently serves as the Technical Business Advisor to the Hilltop Newspaper at Howard University,. As a creative, Angela's work has been peer-reviewed and celebrated by some of the most respected members of the media and advertising industries. Her work has been recognized by the Academy of Interactive Visual Arts (AIVA), with seven Gold (highest) Communicator Award of Excellence, and three Silver Communicator Award of Distinction, for her work as writer, producer and creator in the areas of diversity, equity & inclusion and nonprofit industry support. AIVA is an invitation-only group consisting of top-tier professionals from acclaimed media, communications, advertising, creative and marketing firms that recognizes excellence, effectiveness, and innovation across all areas of communication. She has also been recognized with eight Telly Awards, which honors video and television excellence across all screens. Other awards include multiple platinum level Hermes and Dot.com awards for work done in partnership with other agencies.
