"Professor Andrea reminds me of the quote “stand up and respect your teacher, for they are almost prophets”. Professor Andrea presented is with a gift greater than mere information but he pushed us to be confidant and vocal critical thinkers. It was not only me, but all other students on professor Andrea’s course came to university because we wanted to sit through his class and talk through all the ideas and new ways of thought and translation. Beyond being a great teacher, he was also an even greater human. Many of us student sought refugee with professor Andrea whenever we dealt with personal hardship, and he never, not even for one moment turned us down. On the contrary, he always communicated with open ears and a heart full of empathy, compassion and a hint of revolution. I will always appreciate the time I got to be his pupil and wish many students, especially those struggling under regimes of colonialism and racism, get the same chance. Personally, and I know it’s the view many students who were taught by professor Andrea, the teaching experience with our professor was transformative on the intellectual and personal ‘visceral’ level.
