My name is Amina Johnet Watson. The name "Amina" holds significance in both Christianity and Islam, conveying the same meaning but differing in pronunciation. In Christianity, it means "Amen," whereas in Islam, it is pronounced "Amina,"meaning Amen too.
I was born on March 9, 1991, in the city of Paynesville. Raised by parents from two distinct cultures, Via and Manor, my upbringing was shaped by their diverse backgrounds. Although my parents were not married, they embraced their faith and prioritized my secondary education.
My father is a lawyer, while my mother serves as a minister of the gospel of Jesus Christ. Growing up was challenging, especially as my father communicated his intention to return to school, resulting in his frequent absence from our lives. This dynamic fostered a sense of responsibility within me, prompting me to serve as a counselor for families facing conflicts. My own experiences have made family reunions and holiday celebrations difficult, as my parents' ongoing discord has created an unwelcoming environment for my siblings and me.
I possess a talent for learning and enjoy challenging myself to tackle seemingly impossible tasks an inclination that stems from my childhood experiences. From a young age, I nurtured a passion for education and leadership, often taking on roles of responsibility in various settings. My friends appreciated my leadership skills and frequently sought my guidance when they needed to accomplish something.
As a teenager, I aspired to be a journalist, establishing a student newsroom and serving as president of the news department at each high school I attended. However, I later discovered that my true calling lies in community service. I dedicated much of my time to helping organizations coordinate community service initiatives and programs that empower young people to explore their potential.
I actively engage with emerging young leaders as they discuss societal issues that pose threats to our communities. My goal is to galvanize ideas and resources to address these challenges and promote sustainable development.
I firmly believe in the importance of harmony, advocating for balance in all aspects of life, society, family, work, friendships, and relationships. For me, community service is a personal commitment to maintaining this balance.
