Amete Mihret Teshale is a microbiologist and public health professional with extensive experience in bacteriology, antimicrobial resistance (AMR) surveillance, and laboratory-based infectious disease research. She has led and contributed to national and multi-site studies on priority bacterial pathogens, including Streptococcus pneumoniae, Shigella, Salmonella, and Shiga toxin–producing Escherichia coli. Her expertise spans culture-based diagnostics, antimicrobial susceptibility testing in accordance with CLSI standards, molecular detection, and genomic surveillance. She has a strong track record in capacity building, mentorship of sentinel laboratories, and integration of laboratory data into national surveillance systems in Ethiopia.
