His contributions span the full spectrum of capacity building—developing robust training pathways for both adult and pediatric nephrology, establishing nephropathology programs in Lusaka and Ndola, and strengthening clinical services through the expansion of peritoneal dialysis, hemodialysis, and renal transplantation programs. Equally impressive is his dedication to mentoring and empowering the next generation of clinicians, ensuring that Zambia’s nephrology ecosystem is both self-sustaining and future-ready.

Dr Mweemba has also fostered impactful international collaboration, notably through a highly successful International Society of Nephrology (ISN) Sister Renal Center partnership with Stanford University. This initiative has been instrumental in accelerating the development of kidney transplantation services in Zambia, delivering tangible and rapidly progressing outcomes.

In recognition of his outstanding contributions and leadership, Dr Mweemba was invited to serve as Co-Chair at a KDIGO meeting held in Japan on 26th March 2026, where he represented the entire African continent in advancing transplantation programs.
