🧬 OpenAI Sounds the Alarm on Biohazards and It’s Not Sci-Fi

OpenAI just hit the big red button: its next-gen AI models are getting so smart, they could accidentally help someone build a bioweapon. The risk is now “High,” meaning even amateurs could misuse the tech unless serious safety measures are locked in.

To get ahead of the curve, OpenAI’s planning a biodefense summit, bringing in scientists and policy experts to figure out how to keep Pandora’s (digital) box closed.

But here’s the twist: OpenAI’s already deep into bio-AI. They’ve partnered with Retro Biosciences to develop GPT-4b micro, a model trained to optimize Yamanaka factors, the proteins that can turn normal cells into stem cells. It’s futuristic biotech with real-world potential: think tissue repair, age reversal, maybe even custom-grown organs.

And if that’s what they’re talking about publicly… imagine what’s still under wraps.
