DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Duties and responsibilities will entail: -

Compiling fisheries statistics and preparing technical reports;
Participating in monitoring, control and surveillance of fisheries resources;
Providing fisheries extension services including mobilizing and training fishers,
Maintaining ponds at fish farms and hatcheries; and conducting fish inspection and quality assurance.
Organizing on farm trials on fish species and feed;
Assessing fish post-harvest losses;
Undertaking applied fisheries research and dissemination of research findings;
Undertaking market surveys; and promoting fish marketing and value addition.

REQUIREMENT FOR APPOINTMENT

For appointment to this grade, an officer must have: -

Served in the grade of fisheries officer or in a comparable and relevant position in the Public Service or Private sector for at least three [3] years.
Bachelor’s degree in any of the following fields: - fisheries, zoology, Aquatic Sciences, or any other equivalent qualifications from a recognized institution;
Certificate in computer application skills form a recognized institution;
Shown merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results.
