Bombela Maintenance is looking to recruit 1 x PS&D Technician.
The main purpose of this role is to operate, maintain, repair and test traction propulsion power substations, traction auto-transformer paralleling substations, uninterruptible power supply equipment and associated cabling and equipment. The role also includes limited activities related to OCDS on an ad-hoc basis.
These roles will be based at the Gautrain Maintenance Depot in Midrand, Johannesburg.

YOUR QUALIFICATIONS:


Minimum 5 years experience in the maintenance and repair of high voltage AC electrical transmission, distribution and/or traction systems;
Railway industry experience advantageous
Sound knowledge of relevant safety regulations (Act 85 of OHSA), including electrical safety instructions 
Knowledge of auto-paralleling traction system principles
Sound knowledge of railway environment protection relays
Knowledge of local and remote switching procedures as well as work permit and earthing practices
Sound knowledge and experience of high voltage distribution systems, standards,  inspection cycles and maintenance practices
Knowledge of traction powers system advantageous
Specific knowledge of reading electrical schematics
Ability to fault find electrical circuits
Valid EB Driver’s License
Flexibility to work shifts
Willingness to be on standby
Physical fitness
Capable of working at heights
Ability to see in colour (cannot be colour blind)
Report writing experience advantageous
Strong administration skills and management of production outputs and planning
Good organisational and interpersonal skills
Sound verbal and written communication skills
