We are hiring a Research and Carbon Finance Associate to support the setup and operation of our carbon finance activities, focused on electric cooking. You’ll work closely with the CEand lead many of the operational components of the project. This is an exciting, multidisciplinary role that combines data management, field coordination, regulatory navigation, and tech collaboration.
You dnot need prior experience in carbon finance – just strong analytical skills, curiosity, and a readiness tlearn. You will be exposed tthe entire project lifecycle, from units deployment tdata collection, from approval processes tpartner coordination.

Key Responsibilities


Data Management & Analysis
Oversee usage data collection from smart meters – clean, verify, and prepare datasets for analysis or partner submission.
Maintain data integrity and quality across all project stages from baselines tquarterly and
annual usage and emission reductions reporting.
Collaborate with the IT team trefine the backend/app for smart meter data reporting.
User Engagement & Behaviour Change
Coordinate surveys, cooking diaries, and direct outreach (calls, WhatsApp, SMS) tdrive usage and promote clean cooking habits.
Run micro-campaigns sharing recipes, cooking tips, and reminders tencourage EPC adoption and usage.
Project Management & Implementation Support
Support the CEin the end-to-end setup of Bidhaa Sasa’s carbon finance projects.
Manage the rollout of our proprietary smart meter for electric pressure cookers (EPCs), from design feedback tfull deployment including the fitting of the hardware tthe EPCs.
Documentation & Partner Communication
Help prepare and update project documentation, including protocols, reports, and progress summaries.
Interact with third-party validators and verifiers tprovide data and respond tquestions
Regulatory & Partner Coordination
Liaise with national and county-level agencies (e.g. NEMA, Ministry of Energy) in Kenya and Uganda for project approvals and certifications.
Attend stakeholder workshops and keep the team informed of policy and regulatory changes, including Article 6 developments.


What You’ll Bring

Skills


Excellent numeracy and strong proficiency in Excel (pivot tables, formulas, charts a must).
Strong logical reasoning and comfort with data-heavy tasks.
Ability tmanage multiple work streams – from tech tfield tadmin – with attention to detail and getting things done.
Comfort navigating bureaucratic processes and working with regulators (prior experience a plus but not required).
Strong writing and documentation skills; able tcommunicate clearly in English.


Previous experience


At least 3 years experience in dealing with both quantitative and qualitative data.
At least 3 years with proven previous Project Management experience.
Preferred Qualification: Bachelor's degree in a hard science or quantitative field (e.g. Mathematics, Physics, Actuarial Science…etc.)
Carbon Finance Experience: Prior experience in carbon finance is not required; however, a strong willingness and ability tdevelop deep expertise in the field over time is essential.
