Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and creative Senior Pastry Chef to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in preparing a wide variety of desserts, pastries, and other baked goods, while maintaining the highest standards of quality and presentation. You will oversee the pastry section of the kitchen, lead a team of pastry cooks, and work closely with other departments to provide an exceptional guest experience.
Key Responsibilities:

Develop and create innovative dessert menus in collaboration with the Head Chef, ensuring alignment with the overall theme and vision of the hospitality establishment.
Prepare, bake, and present high-quality pastries, desserts, and baked goods, ensuring consistency in taste, texture, and presentation.
Oversee the daily operations of the pastry section, including inventory management, ingredient procurement, and maintaining proper food storage and hygiene standards.
Lead, train, and mentor junior pastry chefs and kitchen staff, fostering a collaborative and efficient working environment.
Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and maintain the highest standards of cleanliness and sanitation within the pastry kitchen.
Manage and control costs by monitoring waste, portion sizes, and managing pastry section budgets.
Stay up-to-date with industry trends and techniques, introducing new ideas and innovations to the menu.
Participate in menu planning and contribute to seasonal offerings or special events, adapting the dessert menu as needed.
Handle customer feedback or special requests, ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction.

Qualifications and Experience:

Proven experience as a Senior Pastry Chef, Pastry Sous Chef, or similar role within a high-end restaurant, hotel, or bakery.
Formal culinary training with a focus on pastry and baking (a degree or diploma from a culinary school is an added advantage).
Strong knowledge of different baking techniques, dessert recipes, and ingredient properties.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, maintaining composure under pressure while managing multiple tasks.
Excellent leadership and team management skills with a passion for mentoring and developing staff.
Strong attention to detail, creativity, and commitment to producing high-quality products.
Knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations.
Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and evenings as required.

Preferred Skills:

Experience with recipe development and creating seasonal or themed menus.
Understanding of dietary preferences and restrictions (e.g., gluten-free, vegan, etc.).
Familiarity with cost control and inventory management.

Working Conditions:

This role involves working in a professional kitchen with exposure to heat, cold, and kitchen equipment.
Standing for extended periods and lifting heavy items may be required.
