Requirements for Appointment

A Kenyan citizen;
Holder of Bachelors of Laws (LLB) degree from a recognized university;
Hold Postgraduate Diploma in Law from the Council of Legal Education;
Master’s degree in law or any other social science from a recognized institution will be an added advantage;
Must be an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya for at least three (3) years and having a current practicing certificate;
Must be a member of the Law society of Kenya (LSK);
Must meet the requirements of chapter six of the Constitution of Kenya 2010;
Experience in legislative drafting from a reputable institution;
Proficiency in computer applications; and
Possess legal research skills.

The duties and responsibilities include: -

Key duties to be performed include:

Negotiate, draft, vet and interpret documents and agreements for and on behalf of the county executive
Formulate and review of county laws in consultation with the relevant body;
Prepare legal opinion to County Executive on legislative and other legal matters;
Prepare cabinet memoranda;
Support in drafting and Publication of legislative proposals for the County Government
Initiating and undertaking research on emerging legal issues and preparing Legal opinions and briefs;
Shall, on the instructions of the county attorney, represent the county executive in court or in any other legal proceedings to which the county executive is a party, other than criminal proceedings;
Perform any other duties that may be delegated by the County Attorney.
