Basic salary: KES. 87,080.00 p.m- KES. 124,524. 00 p.m
House allowance: KES. 47,915 .00 p.m

Duties and responsibilities
Duties and responsibilities entail assisting in:

Providing guidance on governance and adherence to statutory obligations.
Preparing all University contracts, handling all litigation and conveyance matters for the University
Facilitating the development and review of the all Laws and Policies that have bearing on the university mandate.
Managing, reviewing and updating of all the University codes, regulations, rules, guidelines, by-laws and treaties for consistency with each other
Managing the Legal Registry.
Providing and interpreting legal information, conducting training and disseminating appropriate legal requirements to staff.
Managing, reviewing, and monitoring progress of all outstanding litigation.
Issuing instructions, liaising with the University appointed Advocates with a view to ensuring they act in the university’s interest while handling cases on its behalf.
Reviewing of different requests for approval, licenses both internal and external for purposes of ascertaining legal soundness, making appropriate recommendations and ensure proper implementation.
Documenting and maintaining a record of all enforcement and compliance assignments undertaken by the University personnel and develop legal accountability structures in relation to enforcement assignments.
Managing the university Alternative Dispute Resolution Mechanism.
Developing the University proactive and preventive legal policies and strategies aimed at forestalling disputes, controversies and litigation.

Person Specifications
For appointment to this grade, an officer must have:

Master’s Degree in any of the following disciplines; Law, Business Administration, Public Administration, or equivalent qualifications from an accredited and recognized university;
At least six (6) years relevant working experience.
Supervisory course lasting at least two (2) weeks cumulatively.
Postgraduate Diploma in Legal Studies from the Kenya School of Law.
Admitted as an advocate of the High Court Kenya.
Must have a valid practicing Certificate.
Proficiency in computer applications.
Demonstrated results as reflected in work performance.
Fulfilled the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya (2010) on Leadership and Integrity upon successful appointment.
