Requirements :


A degree in Law (NQF level 7 qualification as recognised by SAQA) 3 – 5 years’ relevant experience in consumer protection environment and 3-5 years Junior Management (at Assistant Director level) experience. Code8/10 is essential


Duties :


Manage the development and implementation plans, policies, legislative frameworks, procedures, and systems to institutionalise business compliance related matters.
Give advice on business compliance related matters. Conduct research and analysis on compliance related matters. Provide trend analysis on compliance related matters. Formulate a plan. Interview management and staff within business line. Review procedures and actual business practices. Identify violations and contraventions. Prepare a report to outline findings and recommendations.
Formulate action and implementation plans with suppliers. Follow up compliance monitoring after implementation. Escalate to the National Consumer Commission where suppliers are continuously defiant. Conduct high level investigations and inspections. Conduct random compliance monitoring.
Obtain search and seizure warrants through competent authorities. Produce a quarterly report on compliance monitoring inspections conducted. Manage internal and external stakeholders (Risk Management, Monitoring and Evaluation, Other Regulatory Authorities and Other Departments).
Represent the GDED on Provincial Compliance Committees to share best practices on compliance monitoring. Collaborate with other authorities, such as, Home Affairs, Health Inspectors, SAPS, Labour Inspectors, etc. Provide budgetary inputs for the Sub directorate. Advise management on risk factors and mitigating strategies
