Duties and Responsibilities

Implementing Anti-FGM policies, guidelines and strategies;
Initiating the designing, developing and review of policies on Anti-FGM advocacy and awareness programmes;
Conducting stakeholder’s training to build their capacity and activate their role in supporting Anti-FGM interventions;
Planning, implementing and aligning program priorities towards the eradication of FGM;
Participating in the formulation of guidelines for conducting community dialogues on eradicating female genital mutilation;
Participating in the development of strategies for stakeholders’ capacity building to manage and respond to female genital mutilation issues;
Liaising with local and international organizations advocating against female genital mutilation;
Formulating comprehensive programmes strategies to guide the development of work plans in the eradication of FGM;
Providing adequate programmes monitoring systems and evaluation procedures in the implementation of Anti-FGM content in the school;
Preparing Anti-FGM programmes reports;
Identifying and building strategic alliances with other key actors to advocate for Anti-FGM sensitizing programming;
Establishing a mapping of external actors proving support to victims of FGM;
Developing referral pathways depending on available resources and services in response to FGM survivor’s need;
Maintaining accurate records of partnership activities, contact information, and other pertinent details;
Providing support in the development of a database to track FGM trends and prevalence in community practicing FGM;
Liaising with local authorities and other stakeholders to enhance working relation;
Providing day-day technical guidance to operational and implementing partners by ensuring standards and procedures are followed on the interventions processes;
Promoting mainstreaming of alternative rite of passage; and
Participating in the development and distribution of Anti-FGM advocacy IEC materials to the public and private institutions to enhance AFGM interventions.

Requirements for Appointment

Served in the grade of Programmes Officer or a comparable position in a reputable organization for a minimum period of four (4) years;
Bachelor’s degree in any of the following disciplines: - Sociology, Medical Social work and welfare, Community Development, Psychology, Counselling, Project Planning and Management Anthropology, Education, Gender studies or its equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;
Proficiency in computer applications; and
Shown merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results.
