Job Summary
• The Logistics Specialist will play a key role in ensuring the efficient movement of goods and materials by sourcing, evaluating, and managing vehicle suppliers in Kumasi. • The role supports the transportation and purchasing departments by optimizing logistics operations, reducing costs, and ensuring reliable supply chain processes for the manufacturing business.
Key Responsibilities
• Identify, evaluate, and establish relationships with reliable vehicle suppliers in Kumasi. • Negotiate contracts, pricing, and service agreements with transport vendors. • Maintain a database of preferred suppliers to ensure competitive service delivery. • Coordinate the timely transportation of raw materials and finished goods. • Monitor supplier performance to ensure compliance with delivery schedules, quality, and safety standards. • Track and analyze transportation costs, proposing cost-saving initiatives. • Ensure compliance with local transportation and procurement regulations. • Assist in vehicle procurement and leasing arrangements as per departmental needs. • Collaborate with the purchasing team to align vehicle sourcing with production requirements. • Verify invoices, delivery notes, and related supplier documentation before processing payments. • Propose improvements to logistics systems and vendor management processes. • Develop and maintain logistics reports, including supplier evaluations and cost analyses. • Support the department in meeting efficiency, cost control, and service-level targets.
Qualifications and Skills
• Bachelor’s Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Purchasing, Business Administration, or related field. • 1–3 years’ experience in logistics, purchasing, or supply chain (preferably in manufacturing). • Proven experience in supplier sourcing and vendor management. • Strong negotiation, communication, and analytical skills. • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint); knowledge of ERP systems is an advantage. • Knowledge of transportation operations and supplier networks in Kumasi. • Strong organizational and time-management abilities. • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a fast-paced environment. • Detail-oriented with problem-solving and decision-making skills. • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build long-term supplier relationships. • Prior experience in purchasing or logistics is highly advantageous.
