Position Overview
KTAR News is looking for a dynamic Multimedia News Producer who thrives in a fast-paced newsroom and knows how to turn breaking news, enterprise stories, and daily assignments into compelling written, audio, and video content. This role sits at the heart of our digital and on‑air operations, helping shape how Arizona gets its news across platforms. 

You’ll collaborate with reporters, writers, anchors, and show and video producers to create timely, accurate, and engaging content. 

Note: Work configurations are subject to change based on business needs and at company discretion.
- This position is an onsite role that requires the employee to regularly work at our Phoenix site.


What You Will Do:
Primary job duties will include, but are not limited to:

Content Creation & Production 
- Write clear, concise, and accurate news stories for on-air and digital distribution. 

- Produce short‑form and long‑form audio and video segments. 

- Shoot, edit, and publish video content optimized for web and social media.  

- Craft headlines, captions, and social copy that drive engagement while maintaining editorial integrity. 

- Help maintain KTAR’s presence across social platforms through timely posting and multimedia storytelling. 

Newsroom Collaboration 
- Work closely with editors, reporters, and on‑air talent to develop story angles and multimedia packages. 

- Coordinate with the digital team to ensure content is aligned across platforms. 

- Assist with breaking news coverage by quickly gathering information, verifying details, and publishing updates. 

- Ensure all news video content is produced in a timely manner and distributed across platforms.  

Editorial Standards & Workflow 
- Uphold KTAR’s editorial guidelines, accuracy standards, and ethical practices. 

- Fact‑check all content and ensure proper attribution. 

- Stay current on local, national, and global news to identify opportunities for coverage over the air and on video. 

- Support breaking news gathering and execution across platforms over the air and digital.  


Skills and Experience We Are Looking For:
- Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, digital media, or related field (or equivalent experience). 

- Strong writing and editing skills with a solid grasp of AP style. 

- Experience producing audio and video content using tools such as Adobe Audition, Premiere Pro, or similar. 

- Superior knowledge of the use of social media publishing tools, and basic analytics dashboards. 

- Comfortable working under tight deadlines and adapting to breaking news. 

- A collaborative mindset and strong communication skills. 

- A passion for video story telling 
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record


Preferred Skills:
- Experience in a newsroom or broadcast environment. 

- Knowledge of Arizona news, politics, and community issues. 

- Ability to produce breaking news stories and develop multimedia packages independently. 

- Strong on-air skills in news delivery. 


Physical Demands
- Receive, process, and maintain information through oral and/or written communication effectively.
- Manual dexterity and fine motor skills to operate computer keys and general office equipment. Ability to work on a computer for prolonged periods of time.
- Sit and/or stand for extended periods of time.
- This is a full-time position with a set schedule of weekday afternoons.  It may occasionally require early mornings, evenings, weekends, or holiday shifts depending on news needs.  The role is based in the KTAR News newsroom in Phoenix and may include occasional field assignments.


Compensation
 $20.00 to $25.00 per hour. Hourly rate to be determined by multiple factors including but not limited to evaluation of the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant along with internal equity and alignment with market data. This range is inclusive of multiple job levels.
