JOB PURPOSE

The Trade Analyst will support the trading desk by providing critical analysis of market trends, pricing, product supply-demand dynamics, competitor activity, and commercial performance metrics. The role will ensure data-driven decisions in the procurement, importation, storage, and distribution of petroleum products including PMS, AGO, and DPK.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES


Market & Price Analysis
Monitor and analyze local and international oil product prices (Platts, Argus, etc.)
Track exchange rates, shipping costs, and other variables affecting landed cost
Provide daily/weekly pricing reports and recommend optimal pricing strategies
Trade Performance Reporting
Analyze trading margins, profitability per cargo/trade, and operational KPIs
Track and reconcile trade volumes, costs, and revenues in collaboration with Finance
Import & Supply Chain Support
Support product import planning by analyzing historical demand and stock levels
Work with logistics and depot teams to project stockout risks and recommend replenishment strategies
Competitor & Regulatory Intelligence
Monitor competitors’ pricing, supply patterns, and market share dynamics
Track NMDPRA, NNPC, and other regulatory frameworks impacting trading operations
Data Management & Forecasting
Maintain an up-to-date trade database with volumes, suppliers, product specs, contracts
Forecast future trends using historical data and market intelligence
Stakeholder Liaison
Assist in preparing presentations and briefings for senior management and external stakeholders
Liaise with finance, operations, marketing, and compliance teams for trade execution


REQUIREMENTS


Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Finance, Business, Engineering, or related field- upper credit
Master’s degree or is an added advantage 
Minimum 5–7 years of experience in a commercial or analytical role within downstream oil & gas or commodities trading
Familiarity with petroleum trading (PMS, AGO, DPK), depot operations, and NMDPRA processes

Proficient in Excel, Power BI, and trade analytics tools
Excellent report writing and presentation skills
Sound understanding of oil trading contracts, pricing mechanisms, and demurrage concepts

REMUNERATION

N600,000 gross.
