Roles and responsibilities:

Conduct physical and medical examinations for study participants and treat medical conditions as may apply
Perform clinical assessment of participants & interpret laboratory results.
VL monitoring and counseling, giving feedback to study participants
Collaborate with Ministry of Health staff to identify eligible participants
Recruit study participants in coordination with Ministry of Health staff
Administer informed consent to prospective and continuing study participants and record the process appropriately
Respond to questions about the study posed by participants and the community
Develop in-depth understanding of the study’s goals and the logistics required to conduct the study
Blood sample management/coordination with Lumumba KEMRI research laboratory for same-day viral load analysis and retrieval of results
Transport Reimbursement for study participants
Track/trace participants for their study visits within the prescribed visit windows to ensure good retention and safety monitoring. This may include home visits and speaking with household members while maintaining patient confidentiality.
Report problems encountered to the study PI and consult appropriately
Data collection of study questionnaires into tablet-based database.
Maintain and upload study data daily.
Accurate and prompt study documentation.
Support data quality control and investigate data queries.
Always maintain participant confidentiality
Maintain good relationship with the community, the rest of the clinical and research teams, Ministry of Health, and the other departments in the facility
Perform any other relevant duties as assigned by the study leadership and designated supervisors
Works in a professional and ethical manner with competence, accountability, and integrity

Other activities that may be required

Handling budgetary concerns regarding the study activities.
Participate in regular scheduled study team meetings.
Report adverse events as applicable and document all protocol deviations

Minimum Requirements:

Diploma in Nursing from a recognized medical training institution.
Registered with the Nursing council and has a valid practicing license
At least one year’s experience with Clinical practice

Additional Requirements:

Experience in implementing clinical research studies.
Proficient reading, writing, and speaking in Dholuo, English and Swahili
Ability to ride a motorbike (with a valid riding/driving license) will be an added advantage.
Must be keen and attentive to detail and have ability to follow instructions and procedures properly.
Must be non-judgmental and flexible to mix with all cadres of people
