Afya Research Africa is involved in innovating and developing health system solutions to promote access to quality health services by under-served communities. As part of this mission, ARA deploys community medical centers in remote rural areas: Ubuntu-Afya Kiosks, in a strategy that incorporates community co-ownership and the development of complementary enterprises to cross-subsidize the costs of providing clinical care.
ARA seeks to engage a laboratory technologist to support operations at the kiosks. The eligible candidate will be based at Aram Ubuntu Afya Medical Centre in Siaya county. This position entails performing routine medical laboratory tests for the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of diseases, promoting awareness of the clinic services and other topical health issues.
The following minimum qualifications and competencies are sought:

• Diploma in laboratory Sciences from a well-established col-lege.
• Knowledge of medical laboratory principles, standards, ap-plications and tests.
• Knowledge of medical laboratory safety, cleanliness and infection control policies and regulations.
• Knowledge of medical laboratory equipment uses and maintenance.
• Accuracy – Ability to perform work accurately and thor-oughly.
• Communication – Ability to communicate in English, effec-tively both verbally and in writing.
• Computer Skills – Ability to use Microsoft Office suite: ability to use Linux systems is an added advantage
• Confidentiality – Maintain patient, team member and em-ployer confidentiality. Comply with all professional and statutory regulations.
• Customer Service Oriented – Friendly, cheerful and helpful to patients and others. Ability to meet patients and others needs while following organization’s policies and proce-dures.
• Initiate and participate in clinic awareness and marketing activities
• Undertake any other duty that may be assigned by the clinical officer in-charge.
