Position Overview: 

The role of the Accounting Assistant is to assist the accountants and team leads with data entry, preparation of bank reconciliations, preparation of financial reporting packages and other tasks as required.
Process vendor invoices accurately and efficiently.
Verify and reconcile vendor statements, addressing discrepancies as needed.
Prepare and process electronic transfers and payments.
Monitor and manage vendor relationships, resolving payment related inquiries.
Prepare and process client debit orders.
Maintaining small assets register.
Prepare weekly cashflow forecasts and monthly overhead report.
Reconcile bank accounts on a weekly basis.
Record financial transactions in accordance with company policies and procedures.
Assist in the preparation of monthly / annual closings.
Maintaining a filing system.
Assist with other accounting projects, as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:
Knowledge and Skills: 

Strong skills with MS Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
Adept at using technology including a variety of software packages/online portals/Cloud-based systems to capture, analyze and record information.
Strong work ethic, follows instructions, raises issues, good communication skills, solicits feedback to improve performance.
Willing to work extended time frames during month-end close and any other periods of critical financial activities.
Excellent organizational, time management and prioritization skills.
Detail-orientated with strong analytical and interpersonal skills.
Strong initiative, great attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
May have to work on SA holidays if the US holidays do not correspond, ‘comp time’ will be offered in lieu

Education and Experience:  

Bachelor’s degree / Diploma in Accounting or Finance, or 5 years relevant experience.
 2+ years of relevant experience.
Knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
Proficiency in relevant accounting software.
