A candidates must have:

A member of the school at the rank of professor, Associate Professor or senior Lecturer
Have served for a cumulative period of 1 year as a substantive chairperson of a department an Acting Chairperson of a Department as a Acting Dean , an Acting Director or a Deputy Director of a Centre of a centre or institute and
Have demonstrated abilities to set performance targets and meet these and other targets set by the university
