The Judicial Service Commission is a Constitutional body established under Article 146 of the Constitution of the Republic of Uganda, 1995, whose mandate is to recruit judicial officers and regulate their conduct.

In accordance with Article 133 of the Constitution, the Deputy Chief Justice shall:
Deputize the Chief Justice as required.
Serve as the Head of the Court of Appeal and assist in its administration.
Perform any other duties delegated or assigned by the Chief Justice.
