Role Purpose

The Health and Safety Assistant will work alongside the Health and Safety Manager to implement, oversee, and uphold safety standards within the organization. The ideal candidate will assist in ensuring regulatory compliance, participate in safety inspections, contribute to fostering a safety-conscious work environment, and aid in the creation and maintenance of health and safety policies and programs.

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

SAFETY


Perform routine site inspections to detect potential hazards and verify adherence to safety regulations.
Support the execution of safety audits and risk assessments.
Record observations and promptly report any safety issues or breaches to the Health and Safety Manager.


COMPLIANCE


Help ensure the company remains compliant with all applicable health and safety regulations.
Organize and maintain required documentation to support regulatory compliance.


SAFETY EQUIPMENT & SUPPLIES


Make sure all safety equipment and supplies are readily available, well-maintained, and used appropriately.
Perform routine inspections and maintenance of safety equipment.
Manage the ordering and distribution of personal protective equipment (PPE) as required


POLICY & PROCEDURE EXECUTION


Support the creation and execution of health and safety policies, procedures, and programs.
Monitor adherence to safety procedures and the proper use of safety equipment.
Assist in communicating safety policies and procedures to all employees and stakeholders.


INCIDENT REPORTING AND INVESTIGATION


Help with the reporting and investigation of accidents, incidents, and near-miss events
Collect relevant information, document the details, and assist in identifying underlying causes.
Contribute to the development and implementation of corrective measures to prevent future occurrences.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS


Degree / diploma in Occupational Health and Safety Management.
2-3 years’ experience in HSE roles in Manufacturing environment. Steel manufacturing will be an added advantage
Willingness to work on rotational shift basis- day or night
