Duties and Responsibilities

Implementing procurement and supplies management projects and programmes;
Preparing tender and prequalification documents for expression of interest for the board;
Implementing and adhering to regulations and policies on supply chain management;
Coordinating the opening, evaluation and negotiation of tenders and quotations; Ensuring the maintenance and archiving of procurement and asset disposal documents and records for the required period;
Preparing estimates of expenditure on supplies and services;
Carrying out of survey on disposal of obsolete stores and unserviceable equipment; Sourcing for suppliers;
Procuring goods and services as per the laid down procedures;
Undertaking market surveys and research;
Participating in preparation of annual procurement plan;
Preparing periodic reports; and
Carrying out inventory and stock control, in accordance with the laid down regulations and procedures.

Requirements for Appointment

Twelve (12) years cumulative experience, four (4) of which should have been at Principal Supply Chain Management Officer or a comparable position in a reputable organization;
Bachelor’s degree in any of the following disciplines:- Procurement, Supplies Management, Business Administration (Supply Chain Management option), Commerce (Supplies Management option) or its equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;
Master’s degree in any of the following disciplines: Supplies Management, Business Administration or its equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;
Membership to the Kenya Institute of Supplies Management (KISM), Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (CIPS) or any relevant professional body;
Leadership Course lasting not less than four (4) weeks course from a recognized institution will be an added advantage;
Proficiency in computer applications; and
Demonstrated a high degree of professional competence, managerial and
administrative capability as reflected in work performance and results.
