The Civil Engineer will oversee the civil engineering aspects of AEC’s five-year project on Strengthening the National Regulatory Infrastructure for Radiation Safety and Nuclear Security. This role involves managing the construction and development of a technical support block, laboratories, administrative block, and associated facilities, ensuring compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards specific to atomic energy infrastructure. The Civil Engineer will work closely with contractors, consultants, and AEC leadership to ensure the project is completed on time, within budget, and to the required specifications.

Collaborate with architects, consultants, and AEC leadership to review and finalize designs for the technical support block, laboratories, and administrative block, ensuring they meet radiation safety and nuclear security standards.
Develop detailed project plans, including timelines, budgets, and resource allocation, for the construction phases of the project.
Ensure all designs and plans comply with Ugandan building codes, atomic energy regulations, and international safety standards (e.g., IAEA guidelines).
