Job Specification

Duties and responsibilities at this level will entail:


Coordinating the legal services’ function;
Formulating, implementing and reviewing the Fund’s legal policies and procedures;
Providing legal risk reviews and advice on risk mitigation;
Representing the Fund in Court matters and managing litigation;
Participating in developing and ensuring compliance with the Fund’s Policies and strategies;
Undertaking legal research and preparing legal opinions and memoranda on matters relating to the Fund;
Advising the Fund on legal and regulatory compliance;
Advising on procedures, legal requirements on matters relating to the Fund’s properties, staff and any other issues that may attract litigation;
Drafting contracts and other legal documents;
Initiating required legislation amendments for the promotion of the Fund’s activities;
Reviewing and drafting contracts, internal policies and ensuring that they are in compliance with all statutory requirements;
Reviewing, initiating, vetting and negotiating contracts, formal agreements and other legal instruments to meet the laid down requirements for execution;
Managing and undertaking performance management;
Initiating required legislation amendments for the promotion of the Fund’s activities;
Assisting the Corporation Secretary in offering Fund secretarial Services; and
Registering the Fund’s documents for intellectual property;
Undertaking risk mitigation in the functional area.


Person Specifications

For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have:


A minimum period of ten (10) years relevant work experience five (5) of which must have been in a supervisory position;
Bachelors’ degree in Law (LL. B) degree from a recognized institution;
Masters’ degree in Law (LL.M), or Social Sciences, or Business Administration or equivalent qualification from a recognized Institution.
Postgraduate Diploma in Law (Advocates Training Programme) from the Kenya School of Law;
Admission to the Roll of Advocates of the High Court of Kenya;
Membership to the Law Society of Kenya (LSK) in good standing;
Management Course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized institution;
Proficiency in computer applications; and
Fulfilled the provisions of Chapter Six of the Constitution.
