FCA Kenya is implementing advanced digital skills training project building on the experiences gained in the Creative Industries program and the potential of young men and women who possess digital skills to engage in a broad range of economic activities in the sector with well-targeted support. The project is aimed at providing emerging creatives with the technical and entrepreneurship skills,... knowledge, resources, and access to networks necessary to tap into economic opportunities in Kenya’s creative industry. The role will focus on assisting program participants in securing meaningful job opportunities and creating sustainable career paths.

Tasks and Responsibilities

Job Placement Assistance:


Collaborate with program participants to understand their career goals, skills, and preferences.
Conduct job readiness assessments and provide personalized career coaching and guidance.
Provide personalized guidance and support to help participants explore career options and develop realistic and achievable goals.
Coordinate job search skills training sessions and orientations.
Identify, gather information and maintaintain an updated weekly database on job opportunities, including paid internships and freelancing, in the creative industries.
Assist program participant identifying job opportunities, preparing job applications, and navigating the recruitment process within the creative industry.
Facilitate introductions, referrals, and applications for job opportunities, leveraging the program's network and industry connections to maximize participants' chances of securing employment.
Increase students’ awareness of their legal rights and employer obligations regarding pay, hours and fair treatment in the workplace.


Networking and Employer Engagement:


Build and nurture relationships with potential employers including creative agencies, design studios, media companies, and other stakeholders within the Nairobi creative sector.
Organize networking events, industry mixers, and portfolio showcases to connect program participants with key players in the creative industry.
Actively participate in local creative industry events, conferences, and meetups to promote program participants and digital skills training programs.
Facilitate mentorship opportunities and informational interviews with established professionals, thought leaders, and influencers in various creative disciplines.


Client Acquisition Support


Offer guidance on strategies for attracting and retaining clients, including pricing strategies, pitching techniques, and project management skills.
Provide support in negotiating contracts, setting rates, and managing client relationships to ensure successful collaborations.


Data Management and Reporting:


Maintain accurate records of mentorship sessions, goals, action plans, and progress made by mentees.
Maintain accurate records of participant progress, job placements, and networking activities.
Generate reports on job placement metrics, including placement rates, employment types, and industry sectors.


Qualifications and Experience


Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Communications, Career Counseling, Project Management or related field (or equivalent work experience). Masters is highly prefered
Proven experience in job placement, career counseling, or related roles within the creative sector.
Extensive network of contacts within the creative industry, including potential clients, employers, and collaborators.
Strong networking and relationship-building skills, with a demonstrated ability to effectively engage with diverse stakeholders, forge meaningful connections, and cultivate partnerships within the Nairobi creative ecosystem.
Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with a passion for supporting youth in the creative field.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Proficiency in MS Office suite and experience with online freelance platforms

Ensure that FCA Uganda humanitarian programme is based on concrete data and experience gathered from high quality Monitoring and Evaluation missions/reports.
Supervise and ensure that program and technical staff provide input into proposals, reports and strategies and proactively and regularly communicate planned requirements for humanitarian program design and implementation to relevant departments.
Supervise and ensure that the implementation of humanitarian department of FCA Uganda programs are coordinated, integrated and support each other to optimize programs and projects implementation and quality.

Primary purpose of the position
Child counsellor at the Child Friendly Space (CFS) will typically provide short-term care to children who reside at the reception centre mostly meeting with individual children or a group of children. Regardless of how many children they meet with, he/she will be responsible for creating a safe, welcoming environment that encourages children to trust him/her and... feel comfortable talking with him/her.He/She will focus on treating specific symptoms among children, such as:

Child counsellor specifically will work with young children and teenagers, creating individualised plans for each child. This may involve employing different strategies that adult counsellors may use and rely on using observational skills more than conversational skills. For example, a child counsellor may encourage young children to play with toys while they monitor their behaviour or habits.

Primary purpose of the position

Assist in enacting safegaurding and protection policies and practices in Dadaab field office operation, raise awareness on organizational safeguaridng and protection procedures and protocols, provide appropriate training to all FCA staff members on safeguarinding and protection and refer situations where a breach or violations in safeguarding policies or issues... of maltreatment have been identified and are subsequently reported.

Main Tasks

Ensure FCA child protection and safeguarding policy is both publicly available and disseminated to all staff and stakeholders.
To deliver effective safeguarding training programmes targeted at different groups of staff appropriate to their roles in liaison.
To communicate effectively with all staff within Dadaab field office when necessary, to ensure that children and young people are well cared for and appropriate information is shared in a timely manner with FCA staff, where appropriate and external agencies.
To manage an identified caseload of learners who have safeguarding needs or child protection needs.
To investigate concerns that are raised by members of staff, learners, parents or external agencies (and others) and risk assess to determine the next course of action.
To contribute centrally to the development of an enhanced culture of safety with learners feeling safe and adopting safe practices.
To respond appropriately to disclosures of concerns which relate to the health and safety and wellbeing of a learner.
To identify those learners and families for whom support is judged appropriate and liaise with other professionals, both internally and externally.
To provide guidance to students in the school who may be experiencing problems at school or at home. To refer to existing counselling and support services where appropriate using the agreed school procedures.
To provide a safe space and opportunities for learners to self-refer if they are concerned about their own wellbeing.
To liaise with staff responsible for attendance and where necessary liaise with the appropriate external agencies if a Child Protection concern is raised.
To ensure that learners who are victims of abuse are supported appropriately and sensitively and that all actions assigned by FCA from planning and intervention meetings are successfully carried out and monitored.
To encourage a culture of listening to Young People and taking account of their wishes and feelings on any measure the school might have taken to protect them.
To support the care of children where their living arrangements are at risk of breakdown (including Local Authority placements).
To receive and coordinate referrals, arranging action and reviewing services for children and families.
Attend and participate in Child Protection Conferences and planning and review meetings whilst working closely with colleagues in Children’s Services as required, some of which may take place out of normal working hours. This will include negotiating between child, family and commissioning worker to identify the support package required.
Ensure each member of staff has access to and understands the school’s Child Protection Policy and Procedures, especially new and part time staff.

Qualifications

A Bachelors/Diploma in HR Management , Counselling or related discipline like Social Sciences, Social Work and Social Administration, Public Administration, etc.

Duties and responsibilities

Assist the supervisor in monitoring the implementation of the LEAP project activities to ensure results are evidence based, culturally appropriate, cost-effective, and have high impact while also ensuring compliance of standards and donor regulations.
Support the supervisor to prepare regular and periodic project reports (monthly, quarterly, semiannually and annual... reports) with evidence/results based information.
Work with the project team and the MEAL team to prepare and/or revise project monitoring tools to track indicators and monitor achievement of objectives and impact of the program.
Assist the project team to prepare plans for capacity building and training of school managements on various trainings needs related to girls empowerment.
Support regular monitoring of LEAP project activities by documenting all project results with photos and short video clips for sharing progress and success stories with donors.
Ensure that project activities are implemented in accordance with the approved work plans and with the involvement of partners and concerned stakeholders at all levels.
Support in mapping, screening and enrollment of beneficiaries to the project.
Assist in development and dissemination of life skills content, trainings on health, human rights and peace building, leadership, and community resources in a way so girls gain self-confidence and a voice in the decisions that affect their lives.
Assist the project team in the development and implementation of a modality of strengthening and improving management of schools committees and pupils through community mobilization and improvement of training materials and programs.
Actively promoting awareness of the importance of girls' education at every opportunity by liaising with all local stakeholders.
Conduct regular data collection using existing tools in order to track project performance on indicators and measure overall impact and for donor reporting purposes and make recommendations on the improvement of these tools.
Ensure that good practices and lessons are documented and shared with the MEAL team and the education team for replication and wider dissemination.
Travel to all project sites to conduct regular monitoring of projects quality together with other project team members.
In collaboration with the MEAL Team, focus on project data collection to generate practical information that can be used for ongoing program decision-making while also capturing results at the impact level.
Coordinate with other departments to ensure operational systems are in place to support field activities including logistics (transport, warehousing and asset management), procurement, security and administration.
Monitoring girls' enrolment, retention and achievement rates by collecting relevant, gender-segregated data; identifying specific constraints to girls' attendance at school.

Required Qualifications and Competencies:

Minimum of Bachelor’s degree in Education/ Social sciences or its equivalent.
Minimum of three (3) years’ work experience in education sector especially in refugee setting.
Knowledge of education in emergencies, education sector policy, child rights and protection issues.
Experiences of facilitating community-based training, capacity building school managements, and awareness campaigns.
Strong self-starter, able to take initiative and adapt to changing circumstances and priorities.
Positive attitude towards community work with emphasis on the ability to learn from communities and support participatory, innovative approaches to problem solving.
Excellent communication skills and a willingness to be respectful, kind, sensitive and empathise with all children and their careers.
Fluent in written and spoken English, Kiswahili and the local language in the camps and the host community
Good report writing skills.
