Key Position Responsibilities
The M&E Assistant will report directly to the Project Monitoring & Evaluation Officer and will have the following responsibilities:

Ensure that the implementation of program activities is in line with the project’s implementation and M&E plan and meet stakeholders’ needs.
Provide technical support to program team in ensuring that data/indicators related to the... project are accurately captured and reported according to set guidelines.
Support the development and design of M&E framework, tools and project M&E plans, guidelines and ensure efficient data management processes.
Provide continuous technical lead to project team on data management and regularly analyze data, highlight important programmatic gaps and coordinate with the M&E Officer and the team in addressing these gaps.
Assist in developing operational monitoring tools (e.g., checklists, questionnaires, databases, interviews, and survey forms, etc.)
Support monitoring activities to project sites, collation/analysis of field reports for program feedback and decision making.
Conduct routine monitoring visits to project sites for data verification, validation, and data quality assessments (DQAs) using standard checklists.
Support regular maintenance and update of project database/information system.
Support operational research activities and participate in project assessments, evaluation, and design teams as applicable.
Assist in the preparation/production of project quarterly reports and SDG alignment reports.
Document success stories and case studies of the project’s beneficiaries establishing the impact of the project intervention on the beneficiaries’ livelihoods.
Conduct frequent site visits to observe training, monitor activities for compliance, engage and build relationships with the community.

Required Skills and Experience

A bachelor’s degree in Agric. Economics, Agric. Extension, Agronomy, Statistics, Data Management, Sustainable Development, or related fields.
At least 2 years of direct involvement in providing monitoring and evaluation support for agricultural or education programs.
Experience with participatory and community-based M&E systems
Demonstrated experience in designing and implementing research, baseline surveys, report- writing, quality data collection, management, and analysis, DQAs, performance monitoring plan (PMP)
Advanced experience using Microsoft Excel, PowerBI, PowerPoint & Microsoft Word
Previous experience with development of e-platforms for data capturing and reporting.
Proficiency in database development/management, and skills in analyzing, interpreting, and communicating data and information to various stakeholders.
Experience using ICT4D for data collection preferred.
Significant experience in conducting quantitative and qualitative assessments and surveys.
Must be able to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
Must be willing to travel and work regularly in rural communities.
Practical hands-on experience using mobile data collection applications, such as CommCare or ODK, GPS in rural settings and supervising the work of enumerators with different skillsets.
Relevant work experience using local education monitoring approach (LEMA), Group administered mathematics assessment (GAMA), Group administered literacy assessment (GALA), etc.
Excellent facilitation skills, familiarity with training-of-trainer (ToT) approaches and methodologies, and competencies to use tailor-made and diversified facilitation/training methods and tools.
Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills; proven capability working in a multi-cultural team setting on multi-year programs.
Fluent in English, proficiency in Hausa strongly required.

The Rayuwa project involves collaboration with diverse partners and a drive to be continuously adaptive to the local context. The Monitoring & Evaluation Officer will support and work with the Rayuwa Nigeria project team to design, plan, manage, monitor, and evaluate the project’s resilient agriculture and accountable education activities.
The ideal candidate will have significant work experience in multi-sector and integrated development programs, leading teams, designing and starting up projects, and managing learning for iterative and adaptive projects related to community agriculture and education in rural settings.

Key Responsibilities

The M&E Officer will report directly to the Rayuwa Nigeria Project Director and will have the following responsibilities:

Provide oversight for program planning, monitoring, evaluation, and knowledge management
Identify program performance indicators with the team
Support the Project Director in developing quality assurance strategies for data gathering, management, and analysis
Assist in program design and work plan development in the field, in consultation with the Project Director, in-country stakeholders, and PYXERA Global DC Office
Identify promising areas of research and programming that present opportunities for innovation and/or fill potential gaps in project initiatives. Work with the Project Director and relevant Rayuwa Nigeria team members to assess the value and/or adaptability of the concepts to the local context and program model
Establish and manage internal M&E systems for effective and efficient project data management and reporting
Design, adapt, and apply quantitative and qualitative tools to assess program activities
Orient and train project staff in understanding and applying results-oriented monitoring & evaluation policies, tools & methods; encourage Rayuwa Nigeria team to appreciate the importance and value of M&E
Assess the needs and coordinate capacity development initiatives for M&E data collection and management
Assist the Rayuwa Nigeria team in the development of regular programmatic reports to PYXERA Global DC Office per donor and partner requirements
Conduct frequent site visits to observe trainings, monitor activities for compliance, and engage and build relationships with the community
Ensure that project evaluations are carried out according to schedule; relay findings and recommendations to the Program Director and staff in a timely manner

Qualifications

Master's Degree in Monitoring & Evaluation, Statistics, Agriculture, Education, Rural / Community Development, Sustainable Development, or related field of study
A minimum of 5 years relevant professional experience in monitoring and evaluation within a community-based, rural agricultural, or educational programs
Technical knowledge and experience in statistical analysis, research, and report writing
Knowledge of rural farming communities and educational system and programs in the Southern Katsina/Northern Kaduna region
Demonstrated experience designing and implementing research, baseline surveys, reports writing, quality data collection, management and analysis, DQAs, performance monitoring plan (PMP)
Advanced experience using Microsoft Excel, PowerBI, PowerPoint & Microsoft Word
Knowledge of qualitative data analysis skills, case study writing, and formative research
Practical hands-on experience using mobile data collection applications, such as CommCare or ODK, in rural settings and supervising the work of enumerators with different skillsets

The ideal candidate will have a relevant educational background and experience in integrated development programs with a focus on child education in a rural community.

Key Responsibilities

The Project Education Officer will report directly to the Rayuwa Project Deputy Director and will have the following responsibilities:

Provide overall technical expertise and management of all education-related activities.
Provide relevant technical guidance and collaborate with the project team to design, develop and implement accountable education development activities within a multi-sector program, with a strong focus on community participation.
Engaging and building strong relationships with community members, analyzing data collected to identify education-related gaps, designing priority action plans and intervention areas in partnerships with the community and relevant external stakeholders.
Develop a clear and adaptive project work plan based on the seasonal (school) calendar, stakeholder availability, project deadlines and targets, etc.
Oversee the program’s overall curriculum development and teaching and outreach strategies.
Identify project impact tracking indicators and key technical focus areas.
Document program achievements, innovations, failures, and lessons learned to integrate into project activities and inform project strategy.
Provide input on monitoring & evaluation tools to ensure accurate data collection, verification, and analysis of training activities, and to avoid duplication of efforts.
Research government schemes relating to child education and social protection to link target children in the villages with available benefits and identify opportunities to leverage existing schemes in project activities to maximize the impact of the project and drive sustainability.
Support the development of project reports on education activities, as needed.
Conduct frequent site visits to observe local education practices, family education preferences, and collect data from schools.
Staff capacity building: contribute to capacity building of Rayuwa Nigeria Education Team.

Qualifications

Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Social Sciences, or related field. Master’s Degree is highly desired.
At least 7 years’ experience in education, teaching, curriculum development and/or after-school tutoring/mentoring/coaching; classroom teaching experience in the Southern Katsina/Northern Kaduna Region preferred.
Medium level awareness of learning crisis/poverty impact and mitigation, education access, and context inclined engagement improvement approaches.
Demonstrated experience designing and implementing engaging and experiential (non-traditional) classroom-learning modules including curriculum, lesson plans, objectives, learning assessments, and the design, use of teaching-learning-materials (TLM), and teaching at the right level (TaRL) approach and local language development.
Experience in deployment and monitoring the use of digital tools in strengthening teaching/learning engagement within rural setting.
Previous experience in implementing community schools-based management reforms highly desired.
Capacity to support implementation of multifaceted learning outcome plan tailored towards character building alongside improving foundation skills (literacy, numeracy, and STEM).
Previous experience in supporting community-based adult education activities among farming communities especially female farmers in developing record keeping, financial literacy skills, experience in implementing programs that seek improvement in learning outcomes (reading, addition) among adult rural learners, compensatory foundation skills-based programs for female school leavers using non-conventional curricular highly desired.

Experience organizing community and/or youth outreach and support programs.
