Duties

Duties and responsibilities at this level will entail: -


Adjunct Faculty are part-time faculty members hired to teach specific courses, supervise practicums or field experiences, work on grants or contracts, research or for other academic purposes based solely on the needs of the University.
An Adjunct lecturer shall be engaged for a total of 7 days per semester (4 months). Two days of travel and 5 days of engaging with lecturers and students.
Adjunct Faculty shall be expected to provide effective teaching, good representation of the University in public affairs and community activities, and maintain sound personal and ethical relations with colleagues, supervisors, students, and the community
Adjunct faculty shall be expected to keep regular office hours, submit grades in a reasonable and timely manner and be available for service at the University during the term of their appointment.
Adjunct faculty are expected to be present at all scheduled class sessions during the semester. Any anticipated absence from class (e.g. to attend a conference) must have prior department Chair or Program Director approval. Request for approval shall be done through a letter to the department Chair or Program Director at least two weeks before their absence.
Engage in formal or informal discussions with postgraduate and research students
Undertake collaborative research with Faculty and postgraduate students
Present papers in university’s seminar programs
Be a co-guide to PhD students from Garissa University.
Where required, conduct research for Garissa University.

Job Description 

Duties and Responsibilities at this level will involve:

Control and supervision of buildings under construction or specialized work of running a repair and maintenance depot. 
Ensure construction work in progress is in accordance with the specifications of the drawings by architects, structural engineers and electrical engineers, and measuring... work in progress as per progress schedule in addition to estimating costs.
Preparation of monthly progress returns and reports of expenditure and progress of individual projects. 

Job competencies

A Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education mean grade of C plain or Division 
with credits in English, Maths, Physics, Chemistry or Physical Science;
At least a Higher National Diploma in Building and Civil Engineering awarded by Kenya National Examination Council, or equivalent qualifications recognized by KNEC. 
Worked with a large organization or preferably government for a minimum of eight (8) years since he/she obtained the HND. 
A thorough knowledge of computer particularly in Architectural and Civil/Structural Engineering packages.
Ability to read and interpret drawings and make reports. 
Ready to work long hours 
Exhibit understanding of duties and responsibilities of Clerk of Works / Inspector of Buildings for Building Construction.

Job Description 

ICT Systems Administrator duties at this level will entail: 

Installation, configuration and maintenance of web servers,
Design, development, planning and implementation of Information Systems; 
Carry out feasibility study on existing and proposed systems to determine economic viability of the system;
Coordinate the installation, maintenance... and administration of on-line services like e-learning; 
Designing, development, planning, implementation and maintenance of university websites on both internet and intranet; 
Designing, scheduling and managing ICT training for end users in the University;

Job competencies 

For direct appointment to this grade an officer must have: -

Masters degree in Computer Science/Information Technology or its equivalent from a recognized institution.
Six (6) years work experience in a relevant field.
MCSE or CCNA certification
Demonstratable cyber security skills. 
Experience and knowledge of ERP system, specifically Microsoft Navision Dynamics. 
Demonstratable knowledge in at least two Content Management Systems (e.g.Drupal, Word Press, Joomla)
Knowledge in Computerized graphic design and creation using web authoring tools will be an added advantage
