Community Health Justice and Peace Initiative for Development (JDPH), a Non-Governmental Organization, is currently implementing the procurement and distribution of non-food items and nutritional support to vulnerable communities in... Items to be Procured    

In a bid to achieve the objectives of this project, JDPH wishes to engage the services of vendors to procure items for WASH component of the project. These services include:

Conflict and Peace Building Officer

Community Health Justice and Peace Initiative for Development -JDPH desires the services of a qualified person who has knowledge on Conflict and Peace Building to serve as its Conflict and Peace Building Officer.

Responsibilities


Collaborate with project stakeholders to develop and implement peace-building initiatives and activities in line with... project objectives.
Facilitate community dialogues, workshops, and trainings on conflict resolution, peacebuilding, and reconciliation.
Support the development and implementation of local peace-building strategies, considering the cultural and social context of the target communities.
Provide guidance and support to local community leaders, civil society organizations, and volunteers engaged in peace-building activities. 
Conduct regular field visits to project sites and engage directly with community members to understand their needs, perspectives, and concerns.
Foster a sense of ownership and participation among community members by promoting inclusive decision-making processes.
Organize and facilitate community meetings and forums to encourage open dialogue, conflict resolution, and mutual understanding.


Qualifications


Bachelor's degree in peace and conflict studies, international relations, development studies, or a related field. 
Proven (4 years) working experience in peacebuilding, conflict resolution, or related fields.
Strong knowledge of peace-building concepts, conflict analysis frameworks, and approaches to reconciliation.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively in challenging and sensitive environments.

The Food Security and Livelihood Assistant will be required to travel to communities in Borno, Adamawa and Yobe states throughout the duration of the project.

Responsibilities


Establish and maintain good relations with key stakeholders and communities in the areas of Food Security and Livelihood to know their perceptions and to understand the needs, complaints, and major events that may have an impact on the activities of JDPH under the strict supervision of the FSL Officer
Assist in the identification, registration, verification and selection of project beneficiaries according to defined selection criteria, as well as verification processes, in collaboration with community stakeholders’
 Assist the FSL Officer to conduct food security activities in the field (input distribution, training,  etc.)
Assist in the document field achievements, innovations, failures, and lessons learned to integrate into project activities and inform project strategy.
Assist the FSL Officer in implementing the FSL project activities in the field, including IGAs, VSLAs, Livestock recapitalization, Production and use of briquettes, production of organic manure, Basic Needs Assistance and Agricultural input support etc.
Assist in identifying the training needs among the population and propose appropriate contents and training support material for the training sessions and awareness messages to be disseminated.
Assist the FSL Officer in periodic FSL assessments including needs assessment, market assessments, activity feasibility assessments and any other Food Security and livelihood-related assessments.


QUALIFICATIONS


Bachelor’s degree in agriculture, agronomy, food security, humanitarian action or any related field. 


EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS


 Minimum two (3) years of experience in a relevant position and experiences within (I) NGOs under food security and livelihood programming.
Knowledge in Food Security and livelihood, vegetable gardening, and skills development.

Strong data, writing skills, and ability to translate technical information for non-technical audiences.
