Legal & Licensing Criteria
1. Active California Medical License
• Must be a licensed MD or DO in good standing with the Medical Board of California.
2. Board Certification (Preferred)
• In a relevant specialty such as dermatology, plastic surgery, family medicine, or internal medicine.
3. Malpractice Insurance
• Should have current coverage or be... willing to obtain it (depending on your agreement).

Professional Criteria
4. Experience in Aesthetic Medicine
• Familiarity with cosmetic procedures: Botox, dermal fillers, laser, PRP, microneedling, etc.
5. Comfort with Delegation & Oversight
• Willing to delegate tasks under standardized procedures and provide medical direction to RNs or NPs.
6. Knowledge of Medical Spa Regulations
• Understands California’s requirements for ownership, scope of practice, and supervision.

Operational & Availability Criteria
7. Willingness to Review Charts or Protocols
• May be expected to:
• Approve treatment protocols
• Review charts monthly or quarterly
• Be available for consultation (e.g., phone/email/text)
8. Collaborative & Responsive
• Open to communication and compliance discussions.
9. Available for Emergency Consults
• Agrees to be reachable in case of adverse events or client issues requiring physician input.

Business Arrangement Criteria
10. Clear Fee Agreement

• Monthly fee within market rate ($500–$2,000/month)
• Willing to sign an independent contractor agreement.

11. No Conflict of Interest

• Not employed or contracted in a conflicting role with a competing med spa.
