The iMMAP Inc. office in Maiduguri, Borno State is conducting a series of innovative, multi-sectorial, and collective analyses and information management support to different initiatives and working groups and would like to engage interns to support agencies and sectors in achieving the analyses and build a network of information management experts. 
The regular... activities that the interns would conduct during the internship period will not only increase their capacities and skills, but also establish a foundation to develop tools in data mining, data processing (data cleaning, consolidation, reconciliation, validation, classification), visualizations, mapping applications, and assessment to engage in data science and data analytics, and potentially to aid sectors and agencies in need of IM support. 

Major duties and responsibilities
Output 1: Working with the Capacity Development team, the Humanitarian Information and Analysis Unit (HIAU), the interns will: 
Activities: 

Identify available data at different levels, including but not limited to surveys, MSNAs, rapid assessments, secondary data reviews, and other data that is collected by humanitarian actors and government MDAs in northeast Nigeria. 
Assist HIAU IMOs in information management tasks. 
Assist the Capacity Development team in preparing for training sessions and following up on training assessments. 
In collaboration with the Capacity Development team and the designated focal points from the HIAU, build a metadata catalog in relation to activity 1.1. 

Output 2: Working with the sector’s/agency’s coordinators, and in coordination with the Capacity Building/HIAU teams, the interns will: 
Activities: 

Perform wide-ranging ad hoc data and information management tasks, as necessary to support the teams and develop practical skills. 

Requirements

A graduate or post-graduate student in a field related to computer science, data engineering or data science, information management, social science, research, or statistics and is not running any program (academic program, National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), ad-hoc engagements with other organizations, etc) that could negatively affect his/her availability; 
must have graduated in not more than 3 years at the time of application; 
be proficient in the English language; 
must be an indigene of Borno state (please indicate on your CV)
have excellent academic performance as demonstrated by recent university or institution records.

Basic understanding and interest in GIS, data analysis, or data for decision-making within humanitarian organizations.

The Capacity Building/ Information Management Officer is responsible for the following: 
- Develop Training Materials for Humanitarian Information Management Subjects 
- Schedule Training Courses on Humanitarian Information Management 
- Deliver training courses on the Humanitarian Information Management 
- Assist in Humanitarian Information Management projects with the Capacity Building Team 
- Redesign Training Materials for Relevance to Humanitarian Information Management Needs. 
- Update capacity strengthening work-plan  
- Identify training needs across humanitarian organizations and clusters  
- Define training goals, objectives, TORs, agenda 
- Design courses and support the development of training curriculums 
- Develop training presentations, practical exercises, and other supporting material 
- Arrange training logistics and conduct training evaluations and report on feedback areas of improvement 
- Conduct follow-up and mentoring visits to organizations requiring additional support  
- Research, identify, or support the development of new information management tools to address information management needs 
- Support the design and development of information management solutions and end products 
- Facilitate staff's ability to use existing and emerging technology to achieve the organization's mission and objectives 
- Any other duties as required. 

Description of Duties
Operational
- Conduct training needs assessments to establish priority needs and gaps in the humanitarian information management capacity;
- Planning and scheduling of capacity building activities in consultation with key stakeholders
- Development of training and session plans, goals, and objectives for humanitarian capacity building programmes based on identified gaps and capacity building priorities; 
- Design and develop capacity building curricula, syllabi, and learning materials;
- Organize and deliver/co-facilitate core and advanced training and capacity building activities consistent with the needs of the humanitarian partners; 
- Research, identify, and develop appropriate training packages on emerging tools and innovative technologies that enhance partner ability for effective utilization of IM tools;
- Develop or identify training content and/or supporting reference resources such as presentations, practical exercises, and handouts to facilitate learning;
- Conduct pre-training, in-training, and post-training evaluations for feedback, address challenges and impediments to effective learning, document, and share lessons learned;
- Liaise with other iMMAP capacity building programmes and ensure consistency and standardization of activities and materials where possible;
- Facilitate staff's ability to use existing and emerging technology to achieve the organization's mission and objectives;
- Train and provide technical support to the identified staff as needed on all Information Management tools and processes;
- Provide mentorship and support within the scope of iMMAP capacity building plan;
- Any other duties as required.
- Draft humanitarian capacity building success stories for inclusion in iMMAP’s reports, newsletters, and social media platforms.

Education
- An advanced university degree or equivalent.

Experience 
- A minimum of 3 years of progressively responsible experience in the learning and development area, training information management and/or ICT professionals in databases, mapping, visualization, and design with an emphasis on web and mobile technologies. 
- Sound knowledge of humanitarian standards and codes will be an advantage
- Great communication skills 
- Fluency in oral and written English and Ukrainian is required 
- Experience in IM capacity Building is desirable
