Duties and responsibilities

Day-to-day general practice service delivery
As a medical officer, diagnoses illnesses, prescribe and administer treatment for people suffering from a wide spectrum of diseases, referring patients to specialists as may be required.
Support specialists in treatment and patient... care management.
Obtain medical histories, order, perform, and interpret diagnostic tests.
Provide competent patient-centred care that addresses health needs and promotes wellness.
Provide health education as required to promote wellness and adequate chronic disease management.

Qualifications and experience

Candidates must possess MBBS with at least 2 years post qualification experience.
Candidates must possess a current practicing license.

The Medical Laboratory Scientist will be responsible for performing laboratory tests that provide physicians and surgeons with information that assists them in diagnosing and treating diseases. 
Key tasks and responsibilities 


Perform tasks, duties and/or complex tests in all areas of the laboratory assigned (haematology, bacteriology, microscopy, routine chemistry).


Established... laboratory protocols and procedures.


Process specimens utilising protocols and technical knowledge


Calibrate, standardise and maintain instruments following established procedures.


Perform quality control, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting protocols to ensure proper functioning of instruments, reagents and procedures


Validate and report results of tests performed.


Deliver patient reports according to times indicated in policy and collection manual.


Research and develop new procedures as required. 


Qualifications


A minimum Bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Science (BMLS)


Must be registered with the Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria (MLSCN)


Candidate must possess a current practising licence.


Should be able to perform haematological, chemical pathological and microbiological analysis
