Key Accountabilities
• Ensure compliance... with Occupational health and Safety KPIs and also ensure that direct reports also comply with same • Ensure there are zero incidents and zero injuries related to activities he/she is involved in or under his/her jurisdiction • Accountable for the implementation, communication and enforcement of all environmental legal compliance for the department • Identify the environment aspects of all activities/areas of oversight responsibilities and provide appropriate mitigation measures • Investigate, respond and take measures to prevent actual/potential environmental incidents in the areas of responsibility • Install, manage and identify opportunities for optimizing the mining systems, processes and practices for the redevelopment for the mine • Establish and manage the Quality Assurance Control requirements for the mining operations • Rigorously drive implementation of projects and nurtuse and sustain a culture of accountability and continuous improvement within the team • Complete the development programme elements identified and managed by the senior manager responsible for mining • Develop, communicate and deliver a rolling 24-month plan, by quarter that delivers required mining services and outputs • Develop and deliver the annual mining cost centre budget to achieve the required targets for achieving annual, medium term and life of Mine (LoM) business plans
Qualification Required & Experience
• BSc Mining/Engineering Degree or equivalent, or equivalent operational experience • Mine Manager's Certificate of Competency or equivalent • 5 years to 10 years of operational experience within an alluvial and open cast mining environment of which 3 years is at senior management level • Familiar with Mining software • Excellent communication skills

Role Purpose and Context
• The Environmental Manager will serve as a chief adviser on all issues which are of environmental concerns and be responsible for drawing the reclamation and mine closure plans
Key Accountabilities / Responsibilities
• Identify environmental compliance requirement of Ghanaian... regulatory bodies and international organisations the company subscribes to (e.g. IFC) as listed in legalization, permits and other agreements to which the company is a signatory • Develop and implement a compliance based monitoring programme that assesses potential impacts of the project against relevant standards and commitments • Ensure all permits and other licenses are up to date and renewed as required • Train personnel in appropriate monitoring and rehabilisation methods • Manage the submission of permitting and licensing applications to the relevant authority or agency in a timely manner • Undertake investigations of actual and potential environment non-compliance and incidents • Undertake environmental inspections and audits of the project facilities and activities • Develop waste management plans for the project, taking into account requirements for hazardous wastes, waste reduction and recycling/resuse • Develop the site wide environmental management systems (EMS) on the principle of ISO14001 standards • Ensure progressive rehabilitation of the project and affected areas in line with the project • Write and submit in a timely fashion all environment reports (incident, monthly, annual, etc) and data required by corporate, regulators and other stakeholders • Develop specific management plans as needed in response to identified issues • Coordinate the implementation of the Mine Environmental management plan and permits. Update and the existing plan as required • Work with other departments to ensure environmental aspects are integrated into the project execution • Assist with social and community department in mitigation environmental impacts on the operational area and the establishment of hybrid seedlings for sustainable development projects • Contact with all departments to identify environmental compliance and risk needs, manage environment aspects of the project and instill awareness across the project
Qualification Required & Experience
• A degree in Environmental Science or Engineering • A master's degree in environmental science / MBA will be an advantage • Health, safety and environment manager's certificate of competence from minerals commission (Ghana). • At least 5 years of experience at leadership level in similar role in mining operations • Strong problem solving and analytical • Ability to work independently and autonomously • Experience of working to international health and safety standards • Ability to implement international best practice standards • Ability to manage conflicting work demands and tight deadlines • A leader and driver of change • Experience of working in continuous improvement organization
