The documentaries aim at

creating awareness about the role and relevance of women and Women Led Organisations (WLO) in crisis settings in the BAY States, including championing gender equality issues and protection concerns such as prevention/response to gender-based violence (GBV) which are central to humanitarian, development, and peacebuilding programmes.
demonstrating WLO’s invaluable... contribution in emergency response by being the first to support internally displaced persons, especially in hard-to-reach areas
illustrating the contribution of WLOs in the development of strategic documents guiding the humanitarian response in the Northeast by ensuring responsiveness to the needs and priorities of crisis affected women and girls.
showcasing the work of WLOs, their challenges, aspirations, desired goals and how they want to achieve them.

Scope of work
The selected consultant will plan and lead the production of the documentary in close collaboration with NORCAP’s Gender advisor working in Nigeria. The consultancy will consist of 3 main phases and deliverables:
Week 1: Together with NORCAP Expert, develop compelling human-interest angle scripts for the two video documentaries (5 and 15-minutes). Train selected women from WLOs on the use of video equipment, interview techniques, narrative techniques and responding appropriately to questions.
Week 2: Facilitate the conduct of video interviews and collection of stories, including 30 engaging and compelling collections of photos (10 in each State) to showcase the work of WLOs, beneficiary and community feedback, successes, challenges, and solutions.
Week 3: Compile stories, edit and package the final products. The videos should be engaging and compelling video documentary clips, character-driven, focusing on the stories of WLOs, beneficiaries and community members.
Methodology
The documentary will explore a people-cantered participatory approach that will build the capacity of the WLOs to use the video equipment, conduct interviews, collect testimonies and other success stories among themselves and their communities of operation. The element of collective action aims at demonstrating that the participants have a voice and that they know what to do and how to change their lives. The participatory approach enables the exchange of information between people horizontally, building trust in the video's veracity and increasing the likelihood of influencing the audience's perceptions and behaviour. Moreover, it supports the process of empowerment in which those who participate in the process can communicate what they really want to communicate, in a way they think is appropriate. Three essential steps converge sharing emotions, integrative thinking, and collective action. Three women leaders will be identified as narrators to give an overview on the work of WLOs in each States.
Geographic Coverage
The documentary, though short, covers three States- Borno, Adamawa and Yobe in the conflict-affected Northeast Region of Nigeria. Communities where WLOs have made impact will be particularly focussed.
Production Team and Interviewees: Lead consultant to work with a video consultant (already hired), NORCAP Expert, 3 Narrators (one WLO from each State), WLOs, Community Leaders, Beneficiaries of programmes implemented by WLOs, humanitarian actors, government officials and other relevant persons.
