REPORTS TO: Country Director NHED   



PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES 

The BD&PM is responsible for providing NHED’s strategic support to the Country Director. Working as a key member of NHED’s management team, s/he will be responsible for provision of proactive and reactive advice and guidance on business development and technical matters related to development of business strategy and its... delivery; development and delivery of new tenders and projects; development and quality assurance on health communications; and provision of hands-on support for key project activities. S/he will be one of NHED’s principal ambassadors, representing the company at assigned engagements with clients and donors, partner agencies and individual partners, and participating in relevant scientific and policy fora from time to time. 

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES 

Support Technical Program Development and Management:


Contributes to the development of NHED organisational strategies, support in quality assuring of our technical work including program management support for field activities
Significantly contributes to the development of the annual planning, budgeting and performance review exercise for the organizations 
Development of TORs, recruitment and grading of consultants in line with NHED guidelines, review and sign off technical reports produced by consultants 
Work with NHED management and Staff as well as the Board to mobilise and further develop NHED technical capacity, including development of in-house technical capacity 
Contribute to the development of NHED technical approaches and providing knowledge management materials like write-ups, discussion papers, website materials and other documentation; support in the regular update of website information 
Represent NHED at meetings with other organisations and donors as agreed with management in relation to programme management and on technical issues; 
Support to strengthen links and to build skills, knowledge and capability of NHED staff and consultants in the area of public health. 
Support the Country Director in ensuring ongoing Quality Assurance on our long-term programmes. 
Support the NHED Technical Lead on assigned projects to ensure in-house synergy in technical quality and timeliness and efficiency in the delivery of such project


Support Business Development 


Work with the Country Director and Board of Directors and staff to identify and track new opportunities, to position NHED for upcoming tenders, and to develop and maintain excellent relationships with collaborating organisations while exploring new business opportunities. 
Ensure Expressions of Interest, Pre-Qualifications and full tenders are of a high technical standard. This includes providing support on: technical approach and methodology for projects and programmes; contribute to sourcing consultants to put forward and ensuring effective contracting arrangements; and drafting of relevant sections of the tender documents and taking part in presentations of tender documents to funding agencies.


Carry out other official assignments for NHED

Undertake other technical assignments on NHED projects and programmes and on any other official assignments or projects that NHED is not the technical lead.

Required Qualifications

Medical qualification (MBBS, MB;BCh, or MD, et al.) and public health or related post-graduate qualification (MPH, MHSM, et al.); 

Required experience 


At least 10 years’ relevant experience working in health and health systems in low- and middle-income countries including Nigeria; at least three years’ experience at management level and as a consultant, capacity to negotiate and deliver on Terms of Reference to client’s satisfaction; 


Required skills 

Expertise with major trends in health sector policy and development assistance; superior policy analytic and programme planning skills; strong practical grasp of health systems strengthening; the logic and analytic prowess requisite for developing coherence from goal through objectives and strategies through activities; the project managing skills requisite for effective project cycle delivery, including the data and information management skills requisite to validate progression with internal as well as external stakeholders; outstanding communications skills, able to tailor speech or prose to the context of diverse audiences from Ministry to village health workers among others; proficiency with MS Office programmes, particularly Excel. Other required skills shall include:


Financial literacy (particularly understanding of budgeting and financial reporting processes and use of formulae) 
Fluent in English language and very good communication skills, written and verbal; confident telephone manners, 
Excellent planning and time management skills, ability to meet deadlines
A strong team player with the ability to work calmly under pressure to deliver on target and to quality.

Desirable skills

Job purpose

To develop and oversee the implementation of ICT and social media initiatives in order to support NHED & NPHD strategic objectives. Provide support including coordination to the NHED & NPHD office as well as to the NHED projects on ICT initiatives. Coordinate implementation of ICT development, networking and security standards in the office and coordinate and advise on ICT needs and... technical support requirements. Lead the development of ICT policies, strategy and plans. Ensure proper and effective use of ICT in the office.

Roles and responsibilities


Leads in the development of ICT and digital strategy, policies and programmes that support the achievement of NHED & NPHD strategic objectives.
Support the NHED team in preventing, identifying and fixing ICT problems on their official digital equipment like lap tops, phones, etc as well as on other inhouse digital equipment 
Provide digital support to NHED at workshops, meetings and seminars 
Directs the development of annual ICT & digital work plans and budgets in line with specific programme objectives and ensures expenditure is within budget.
Directs the implementation of ICT and digital media plans and programmes and ensures that progress is monitored and evaluated regularly. 
Maintains a positive organizational image through implementation and ongoing improvement of Corporate Identity (CI) Standards, and guides management on proper application of CI Standards. 
Leads in providing advice and support to internal and external stakeholders for effective ICT platforms and collaterals.
Collaborates with all departments in order to provide effective ICT and social media support for program delivery. 
Develop, support and promote company goals, including message development, social media content creation and media outreach.
Ensures that corporate ICT strategies and plans are correctly implemented and appropriate for situation specific application:
Support NHED project states in resolving their office ICT problems including the establishment of preventive mechanisms to minimize ICT problems
Analyse corporate ICT strategies and plans and adapt them to fit the NHED operating environment/conditions.
Support to establish a stable internet connection in the NHED office and regular update NHED websites with relevant information 
Collaborate the Communication Specialist in the development and dissemination of NHED communication materials including brand and corporate identity materials 
Identify target audiences and create strategies to effectively engage them.
Ensure digital marketing content aligns with NHED/NPHD brand identity; message and assist with marketing campaigns as needed.
Perform other work-related duties as may be assigned.


Knowledge and Experience


2 years of cognate experience in a post that includes a blend of :

Digital communication, advocacy, and ICT


Branding/corporate identity development and management
Networking, mentoring and capacity building in Communications and ICT for NHED/NPHD staff and stakeholders.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Knowledge of digital marketing tactics and email marketing
Excellent critical thinking skills and the ability to exercise good judgment and solve problems quickly and effectively.
Thorough knowledge of overall design and operating principles of ICT systems and of connectivity concepts. Additional experience in various aspects of ICT will be an added advantage.


Qualifications


Degree or relevant certifications in ICT or related fields.  
Master’s degree in related field is an added advantage.
