Job Overview

The Accounts Payable Officer will be responsible for ensuring that all vendors invoices and/or internal expense requests are properly recorded, tracked, approved and paid as at when due.  The successful candidate will work closely with the Payable Accountant and ensure a mutually beneficial relationship exists between the company and the vendors. Success in this role will be... demonstrated through accurate and timely payment of invoices, ensuring appropriate statutory deductions are made from vendors invoices before payment and prompt/accurate record keeping of the financial transactions.

Objectives of this role


Support the company in optimizing its working capital requirement and prompt recording of financial transactions in the systems.
Strengthening and improved relationships with vendors and suppliers through timely payment of invoices
Assist in streamlining and improving the accounts payable process
Exercise integrity and confidentiality in financial reporting
Compliance with national and local financial regulations and extant laws.


Roles and Responsibilities


Assemble and review invoices and internal expenses to ensure complete documentation in accordance with the company’s invoice payment procedure
Verify vendors invoices against approved purchase orders and ensure goods or services are received physically and on the system.
Maintain appropriate records of all compliant vendors invoices and internal request received in the accounting system
Maintain copies of vouchers, invoices and/or correspondence necessary for soft and hard filing in a chronological order.
Preparation of payment schedules for all invoices and internal requests to be paid showing all the statutory deductions to be made in compliance with the extant laws.
Schedule pay run and process outgoing payments in compliance with company policies and procedures for vendors invoice payment.
Reconcile periodically (monthly & annually) the accounts payable by their respective sub ledger to ensure that all bills and payments made are accounted for and properly posted in the accounting system.
Identify improvements areas to the accounts payable processes and engage the Payable accountant and by extension the Finance Leadership for possible implementation

Operational Support: 


Assist the Rig Manager in overseeing rig operations, ensuring adherence to safety, operational, and environmental standards. 
Actively monitor daily drilling activities, equipment performance, and personnel efficiency. 
Ensure proper coordination of rig activities to meet project timelines and objectives. 


Leadership & Team... Management: 


Develop leadership skills by directly managing rig crew activities in the absence of the Rig Manager. 
Provide guidance, mentorship, and training to junior rig personnel to foster a culture of excellence and safety. 
Promote teamwork and effective communication among all rig personnel. 


Project Monitoring & Execution: 


Support the planning, coordination, and monitoring of drilling projects to ensure cost-effective and timely completion. 
Track key performance indicators (KPIs) and report progress to the Rig Manager and other stakeholders. 
Liaise with relevant departments to ensure seamless execution of rig operations. 


Maintenance & Safety Compliance: 


Ensure the implementation and monitoring of the rig maintenance plan to maximize equipment uptime and longevity. 
Conduct routine inspections of rig equipment and facilities to maintain compliance with industry standards and company policies. 
Promote and enforce a culture of safety by adhering to HSE protocols and conducting regular safety drills. 


IT & Data Competence: 


Utilize IT tools and systems to enhance operational efficiency, including real-time monitoring and reporting software. 
Support data acquisition, analysis, and interpretation to optimize drilling operations and maintenance planning.

Qualifications & Competencies: 

Educational & Professional Requirements: 


Minimum entry level: Assistant Driller with relevant certifications. 
A degree in Mechanical, Petroleum, or related Engineering disciplines is an advantage. 
IWCF certification or equivalent is required. 


Technical Skills: 


Strong understanding of drilling operations and rig equipment functionality. 
Competence in IT, including familiarity with drilling software, Plant Maintenance Management System and data analysis tools. 
Knowledge of maintenance planning and execution for rig equipment. 


Leadership & Communication: 


Proven ability to lead and motivate teams in a high-pressure environment.

Medical coverage on board on 24-hour basis. 
Ensure that the hospital facilities are maintained in a clean, hygienic and clinical fashion. 
Ensures medical scales are maintained in accordance with Land Rig requirements. 
Maintenance of First Aid stations. 
Keep accurate records of consultations and treatments. 
Monitor the general well-being of personnel... and condition of their environment. 
As team leader of medical party will hold regular training/instruction exercises with members of the team.
 Take and dispatch potable Soil samples to appropriate laboratory as per Land Rig requirements. 
Perform pre-sat medical examinations. 
Assist in providing advice, support and where necessary (in Rig Safety Coach etc) information, instruction and training on occupational, and general, health risks / matters in support of ensuring a fit and healthy workforce and continued health awareness / promotion on-board 
Provide routine occupational and general health screening checks on-board as part of on-going occupational and general health surveillance programs and, where necessary, seek guidance / advice from topside on matters that require further attention / assessment etc.

Duties & Responsibilities: 


Ensure all rigging operations are in accordance with safe working practice. If they have any doubt about the safety of the operation, they will bring this to the attention of the Driller 
 Use only rigging gear (shackles, slings, straps, etc) which are in good condition and in-date (colour coded) for certification. 
Ensure that equipment is rigged safely, as... per best working practices.
 Ensure that the deck area is kept clean and free of all unused equipment. 
 Assist with the maintenance of all Derrick equipment to a good safe working standard. 
Assist with the operation of the Derrick and associated Land rig Derrick systems. 
 Assist with the preparation of Land rig tools. 
 Under instruction from the Driller will carry out Emergency Disconnection Drill to ensure that all deck personnel are familiar with these operations.
