The role:

The role is to enable the business to embed continuous improvement principles and initiatives to ensure that resources are directed effectively at the highest value projects

Responsibilities will include but not limited to:

Evaluate / analyze plant processes and systems to identify improvement opportunities
Ensure plant laboratory systems comply with SANS
Measure, track and... manage coal quality to ensure that the product produced is within required limits
Provide the processing plant with technical advice / support
Assist with metallurgical accounting activities
Assist in the implementation of critical controls to improve safety
Implement continuous improvement initiatives to optimize plant processes that will enable delivery of the initiatives outlined in the business plan
Develop and assist the implementation of the Seriti MOS system, ensuring that best practice and commitment from all stakeholders involved is recognized
Planning and facilitating Reward and Recognition for BI initiatives
Supporting and preparation for Business Strategy Sessions
Prioritization of Business Improvement Initiatives
Develop systems that support change initiatives to be managed locally while maintaining simplicity and promoting standardization
Conduct yield improvement test work and investigate yield improvement opportunities
Manage and adhere to quality management systems
Application of appropriate analytical methods
Continuously monitor product qualities
Interact with marketing department for requirements
Regular evaluation of unit process efficiencies
Carries out responsibilities in terms of HSEC requirements
Process investigations and Test work

Requirements:

BSc Met (Extractive) / BSc Chemical Engineering / Mineral Processing Honours / B-Tech Honours / B-Tech
4 years’ relevant working experience in a mining environment of which at least 1 year is in a supervisory capacity at an operation (this can be cumulative acting experience)
Coal processing plant experience
In-depth knowledge of Processing
English Proficiency
Proficiency in MS Office, SAP or equivalent system
Valid Code B driver’s license
In possession or able to obtain a valid Certificate of Fitness

Advantageous:

Ability to use process explorer / LIMS / Minitab / SAP software

Responsibilities will include but not limited to:

Oversees the production process and assists with drawing up of the production schedule
Monitor daily achievement of targets
Ensures all work is effectively planned, resourced and undertaken in a safe and cost-effective manner
Monitors the production process in line with set targets ensuring strict adherence to plan compliance
Monitors... production standards and implements a quality control program, reviews report and statistics to plan and modify mining activities
Provides insight on the selection of mining equipment, reviews new production plans and discusses equipment needs and modifications
Implements and ensures that methods and procedures are in place for optimal asset utilization
Ensure adherence to policies, standards and procedures in all areas of operations
Investigates non-conformance to mining activities, identifies areas for improvement and implement solutions

Requirements:

Eng., B Tech or Advanced Diploma, B Eng., National Diploma Coal Mining / Engineering
Mine Manager Certificate of Competency (Coal) - completed
A minimum 2 years’ appointed as a Mine Overseer in a production environment
Sound knowledge and understanding of relevant legislation (i.e. MHSA, HSE, Labour etc.)
Proficiency in MS Office Suite
Valid driver’s license
In possession or able to obtain a valid Certificate of Fitness

Advantageous:

Subordinate manager (MHSA Section 2.6.1 appointment) experience in an underground mine
Mine Overseer certificate
Postgraduate Degree (i.e. Honours / MBA)
