Job Description

An officer at this level shall:


Provide drug information to patients, clinical officer, nurse and other medical staff;
Timely and accurate posting of dispensed drugs for billing purposes;
Place orders for stock replenishment to the pharmacy store to maintain optimal stock levels;
Participate in regular monitoring of drugs for expiry;
Counsel... patients appropriately to ensure adherence to drug therapy;
Participate in stock taking exercise and ensure timely explanation of stock variances;
Enter prescription orders into the computer and making labels appropriately;
Receive drugs and verify against the stock transfer printout;
Perform stock count and stock movement analysis;
Shelving of items appropriately; and
Perform any other duty as may be assigned from time to time.


Requirements for appointment

For appointment to this grade one must have:-


Diploma in Pharmaceutical Technology or equivalent from recognized medical training institution or any other recognized training institution
At least three (3) years post qualification work experience.
Valid registration certificate from the Pharmacy and Poisons Board

Job Description


Prepare weekly surveillance reports on Malaria and Typhoid to the sub-county disease surveillance department to assist in disease surveillance in the county;
Prepare monthly reports to be submitted to the Deputy Vice Chancellor, Administration, Finance and Planning to plan and monitor the performance of the University laboratory;
Collect, prepare and... perform laboratory procedures to assist in the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of diseases as requested by clinicians;
Verify, record and report laboratory results on all performed tests to ensure that the results are correct and accurate;
Maintain cleanliness of laboratory equipment to ensure equipment are in good working condition;
Perform quality control on all lab reagents to ensure accurate results;
Prepare lab reagents to be used in laboratory tests;
Clean and decontaminate surfaces and manage laboratory wastes to prevent spread of infections;
Chart fridge temperatures to ensure reagents are kept at the right temperature for accurate results;
Enter laboratory data in the computer to assist in generation of lab reports; and
Perform any other duty as may be assigned from time to time.

Maintain appropriate security measures and mechanisms to guard against unauthorized access to electronically stored and /or transmitted patient data and protect... against reasonably anticipated threats and hazards;
Set up, maintain and manage accounts and workstations;
Oversee and/or assist in performing on-going security monitoring of organization information systems;
Undertake application problem analysis and resolution for application problems in conjunction with the users and application suppliers;

Set goals for Mean Time to Resolution for all support issues, including escalated incidents among different Units and units;
Ensure that the ICT systems Unit has all human and non-human resources required to provide ICT systems support services to other Units;
Coordinate and provide ICT systems support services and service delivery in the
University and ensure that they meet the expected standards and compliance;
Supervise ICT system administration and system security Unit staff together with their services, to ensure that they offer timely services within the expected standards;
Coordinate and provide continuous staff training and development in the ICT systems
Unit for their effective and efficient performance and productivity;
Ensure and provide continuous ICT systems services’ advisory service to Management and other Units and units and other stakeholders through the appropriate media;
Coordinate monitoring and evaluation of progress and achievement of the ICT systems
Unit’s programmes, procedures, processes and services, and prepare and disseminate periodic reports appropriately;
Assist with implementation of ICT application projects. Provide technical input where required;
Provide consistent and quality technical and/or hardware services advice for business improvement and compliance with agency rules/standards;
Ensure compliance through adequate training programs and periodic IT security audits.
