MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

The Pharmacist will be responsible for the following main activities in order to ensure a good pharmacy management at all levels:


Implementing a quality drugs supply system in line with MdM standards
Implementing an effective stock management
Reception and preparation of orders
Collection and analysis of drugs consumption in the mission
Support to health... facilities and mobile clinics
Reporting and attendance to different meetings


TASKS DESCRIPTION:

Implementing a quality drugs supply system in line with MdM standards


Participate in analysis of needs, preparation of regular forecasts, calculation of replenishment orders and buffer stocks and initiating timely procurement of medical supplies in collaboration with log/supply and Pharmaco.
Prepare the request for all the necessary drugs, material and equipment for mobile clinics and validate with medical supervisor.
Anticipate needs for medical supplies and assist in defining and implementing strategy for local procurement if necessary in collaboration with supervisor(s).
Alert the supervisor(s) as soon as the buffer stock will be used.
Checks quality of drugs are in line with MDM internal and national regulations during the procurement process.
Participate on evaluation of potential local suppliers for supplies and equipment according to MDM standards.
Participate on selecting the suppliers (validated after QUAMED Local Market Assessment) for local purchase of drugs.
Store drugs according to instructions and standards.
Realize the pharmacy stock management (in/out) at the mobile clinic
Support drug dispensers/pharmacy assistant in the weekly drugs orders to MdM central pharmacy with the assistance of the medical supervisors, medical doctors and paramedics staff
Monitor the supply quantity, expiration dates and quality of medicines and medical supplies.
Ensure pharmacy recommendations are applied


Implementing an effective stock management


Create a pharmacy with appropriate storage, receiving and packing space and allowing to conduct a full medical inventory.
Organize the drugs storage according to international standards (route of administration, alphabetical order of International Non-proprietary Name, FEFO principle, clear labeling with INN + dosage + pharmaceutical form + expiry date)
Organize drugs, medical supplies and equipment for easy distribution and appropriate stock movement records
Ensure all boxes and items are proper identify and register in stock cards and excel.
Organize a monthly physical inventory and provide the stock balance at the end of each month to medical coordinator.
Monitor temperature of the pharmacy and fridge on a daily basis


Reception and preparation of orders


Order reception:
Check quantities and quality of the received items
Make out an acknowledgement of receipt for logistic department and HQ
Integrate all the items into physical stock
Fill in the stock cards for all the items as the electronic file (Excel)


Order preparation:


Prepare and distribute the drugs according the field request and projects needs
Check the rationality of the requests
Pack supply request from the supported facilities and mobile clinics in a timely way
Update the stock cards and excel according to the stock movements
Do a feedback to the supervisor(s) in case of any problem with the orders


Collection and analysis of drugs consumption


Ensure that updated stock and consumption records can be provided upon request for any reporting
Assist in development and implementation of drug consumption tools in supported facilities and mobile clinics
Monitor the drug consumption by establishing/maintaining mechanisms of consumption record and inform the supervisor(s) in case of any unusual consumption.


Support to health facilities and mobile clinics


Collaborate closely with and build the capacities of dispensers of supported health facilities and mobile clinics.
Conduct on the job training for dispensers in the mission.
Upon request, organize trainings on drug prescription and rational use of drugs for medical staff
Help to asses needs in health facilities and mobile clinics related to drugs storage and dispensation. Propose and fulfil any necessary changes required.


Planning, Reporting and attendance to different meetings


Prepare weekly activities plan with the support of the supervisor(s).
Compile drug consumption per week, month and clinic
Compile information of inventory and consumption for the monthly analysis. Participate in a pro-active way to MdM internal meetings (medical, security…)
Participate to all the relevant trainings organized by MDM
Provide a report after each field visit with objectives achieved and recommendation to be followed.
Provide first draft of monthly analysis for revision of the supervisor. Participate in a pro-active way to MDM internal meetings (medical, log, security, etc)
Liaise/inform clinician, doctors and midwife about drug availability.


OTHERS:


Establish good relationship with the different stakeholders to have a smooth implementation of MDM project
Be flexible in performing his/her duties to ensure that beneficiaries are getting good quality services
Inform immediately the security focal point in case of any security problem in the field
Perform other additional duties on request of the supervisor(s).
Give suggestions to improve the functioning of MDM mobile clinics


Educational Requirements


Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy; a Master’s degree will be an added advantage
Sound  knowledge of Sagastock/Isystock
Valid practicing license
At least 3 years as professional pharmacist
Preferred experience in similar position
Strong sense of responsibilities and organization skills
Intermediate level of excel knowledges

CONTEXT

Médecins du Monde (MdM) has been implementing an emergency program in Borno State since 2016, in response to the humanitarian crisis in north-eastern Nigeria, focusing on improving access to Primary Health Care (PHC), treatments of Under-nutrition and for Gender-based Violence (GBV) survivors, and providing Sexual and Reproduction Health (SRH) and Mental Health and Psychological Support... (MHPSS) services to beneficiaries. Currently MdM has a coordination office Abuja and interventions in Borno state and Katsina state.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

The SRH/GBV Officer will provide integrated technical oversight for Sexual Reproductive Health (SRH) and Gender-Based Violence (GBV) activities across MDM’s areas of implementation. This role ensures the delivery of high-quality SRH services, including care for GBV survivors, while adhering to national and international guidelines. The officer will supervise midwives, strengthen referral pathways, and foster collaboration with stakeholders to enhance service integration.

Key Responsibilities 

Program Support and Service Integration


Conduct regular field supervision in clinics and supported health facilities to ensure quality SRH services (ANC, PNC, FP) and GBV survivor care, including case management, Clinical Management of Rape (CMR) protocols.
Ensure adherence to MDM’s SRH/GBV guidelines, national protocols, and global standards (e.g., Survivor- centred case management, MISP for SRH in crises, WHO guidelines).
Strengthen integrated SRH/GBV referral pathways for obstetric emergencies, GBV cases, and psychosocial support.
Collaborate with the Technical Advisor and MHPSS team to ensure holistic care for survivors.


Clinical Protocols and Quality Assurance


Monitor compliance with SRH protocols (e.g.,GBV,  ANC, PNC, FP) and GBV protocols (e.g., CMR, confidentiality, IPC standards).
Identify gaps in service delivery and propose corrective actions.
Ensure patient privacy, dignity, and confidentiality are maintained across all services.
Oversee the implementation of Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) measures in SRH/GBV service delivery.


Capacity Building and Training


Train and mentor midwives, health workers, and MDM staff on SRH/GBV topics, including ethical care, CMR, and rights-based approaches.
Develop and deliver capacity-building plans for MDM and Ministry of Health (MoH) staff to strengthen integrated SRH-GBV services.
Facilitate workshops on antibiotic resistance mitigation, risk management, and quality prescription practices.


Monitoring, Evaluation and Reporting 


Conduct field visits to monitor SRH/GBV activities, analyze data trends, and track progress against project objectives.
Compile and submit monthly reports on SRH/GBV service indicators, challenges, and recommendations to the Program Manager and SRH/GBV TA.
Contribute to donor reporting by providing accurate data on SRH/GBV outcomes and interventions.


Reporting and Communications


Represent MDM in SRH/GBV sub-sector meetings, inter-agency forums, and coordination groups (e.g., UN agencies, NGOs).
Maintain partnerships with local authorities, community leaders, and health facilities to enhance service accessibility.
Collaborate with UNICEF and other partners on nutrition and SRH/GBV integration efforts.


Hierarchical and Functional links


Under the direct supervision of Program Manager, and in collaboration with the Field Coordinator.
With technical links to the SRH/GBV Technical Advisor and the medical coordinator. 


Skills required: 


Bachelor’s Degree in Midwifery, Nursing, Public Health, or related field. Certification in GBV, SRH, or humanitarian response is a plus.
Minimum 3 years in SRH/GBV program implementation, preferably in humanitarian settings.
Proficiency in SRH/GBV protocols (e.g., Survivor-centered- case management, MISP, CMR).
Strong knowledge of Nigerian health systems and GBV referral mechanisms.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

Under the direct supervision of the Base Manager, the Humanitarian Access and Safety Officer in Damboa (HASO) will be responsible to develop and follow up a context analysis mechanism, to adapt and implement a safety framework, to set up and maintain a network of relations with authorities, other NGOs and field-level focal points to proceed for assessment of new areas of... intervention, request of access authorizations, to report and to anticipate security-related events, in accordance to national and MdM internal procedures, under a confidentiality based approach. H/She would have technical links with the Humanitarian Access and Safety Manager (HASM) based in Maiduguri.

ACTIVITIES DESCRIPTION:

Security management


Compile and update a contact list (from authority, security entities, community leaders, HF staff, district office staff, local council ...etc.) to ensure safe access to implement MDM medical activities.
Assess the security context on a daily basis and update the Base Manager and the Field Coordinator. 
Analyze and report the security and contextual data using MDM validated tools.
Take active role in developing security documents for Damboa .
To support and monitor the implementation of the security pack in Damboa field base.
To ensure the daily management of the security within Damboa base and clinics, including the management of the guards, the management of security materials and equipment, etc.
Validate staff movements in the operational base.
Ensure proper update and delivery of constant companion cards for key staffs.
Conduct on-going security risk and threats assessment.
Maintain and analyse an incident reporting system.
Advise on technical protection and communications matters, such as site selection and protection, as well as the functioning and good use of communications equipment.
Be involved in incident response management and subsequent reviews and evaluations in collaboration with the General Coordinator, HASM and Field Coordinator.
To provide briefings about cultural and social customs in the operational context.
Monitor and report on adherence to procedures and plans in the field base.
Assess and maintains timely update and replenishment of safety and security related kits with relevant departments.
Identify safety and security training needs for the team members, conduct trainings and capacity building actions in collaboration with HASM
To provide briefings about the operational context to visiting staffs and ensure staffs are kept up to date on changing security conditions.


Liaison with Authorities and Humanitarian Actors


Develop, maintain and establish an effective communication and good relationship with authorities and other humanitarian actors in Damboa LGA in order to proceed for: Facilitating visits of MDM staff with authorities, and obtaining access authorization for current and potential intervention areas.
Keep informed the Field Coordinator timely of any information concerning changes in the procedures in the context.
Liaise and exchange relevant information with other humanitarian organisations and with the authorities in Damboa, keeping the field coordinator informed of such information.
To represent MDM values as secular, independent organization whose commitment is to support sustainable improvement of health policies.
Participate in any scheduled technical and coordination meetings when needed especially the field level civil military coordination meetings.
To serve as an interlocutor with security forces in the field.


Assessment:


Participate in developing SOP, validation procedures and briefing prior to field trips to new and/or sensitive areas in Damboa LGA with technical guidance of the HASSM.
Develop and update a focal points database for info collection on permanent basis.
During identification of MDM new locations of interventions, HASO should collect information about the possible places from the different networks (i.e., Authority, community leaders, MAG, Civilian in Conflict, other relevant actors) and gather needed information about the location safety, access, and other relevant actors on the screen.
To get verification of safe access by communication with key people in the operational context during before each medical team field movements and other field visit.
During fieldtrips, responsible in coordinating movement plans, represent MDM in check points, and introduce the objective of the assessment, importance, and methodology if needed.
Inform the medical team of any information/issues/concerns that might affect the team safety or MDM acceptance in the operational base (i.e., if they face/feel community resistance for family planning, vaccination, handling GBV case… etc. 


Project Implementation:


HASO is the person in charge to answer authority on non-technical questions, (example in check points) 
He is in charge to introduce MDM team to people and to explain about MDM, presence, activities. etc.
Identify possible places for team hibernation in the field and advise on adaptation of security pack based on new needs and context factors.
Identify relevant actors in the area and get involved in the actors mapping, including analysis of relationships and dynamics between different actors and impact on MDM intervention.


OTHERS:


Be flexible in performing his duties 
Inform immediately the Field Coordinator in case of any security problem 
Realize a bi-weekly and monthly report to submit to the Field coordinator, keeping the HASSM in-copy.
Participate in a pro-active way in MdM internal meetings that maybe requested

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATION:


University degree in social sciences or other related field; certification in security management course is an asset
Prior experience as security focal person for INGO preferable
Basic or Advanced Security Management Training from INSO or any recognized institution.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES


The SRHR Advisor is in charge of providing technical supervision of the implementation of the mission’s SRHR and GBV activities. 
S/he ensures the operational roll-out of the intervention strategy, technical support, quality of treatment and relevance of SRH activities, practices, and information. 
S/he directly or indirectly leads/supervises teams (line management... or operational management) (MdM and partners).
S/he will also oversee relevant GBV issues and develop/adjust specific interventions to address services and/or sector gaps and needs.  


ROLES:

Organization, coordination, and supervision of SRHR and GBV activities


Understand and document the national SRHR strategy Nigerian MdM mission
Carry out and update the mapping of the actors involved in the response to SRHR and GBV and develop a strong network in coordination with the local MdM team
Lead the definition and adaptation of the strategy for MdM’s prevention and response to SRHR and GBV in line with the context and MdM’s overall strategy on SRHR and GBV
Ensure the quality of GBV activities through regular monitoring and technical support to program teams and partners
Support MdM team and partners for implementation of SRHR activities in line with the Minimum Initial Service Package (MISP)
Create and disseminate tools, guidelines and training and awareness-raising materials
Monitor and provide technical advice and recommendations in case of difficulty and/or to improve the quality of SRHR services (including GBV) and prevention interventions, in line with international and national guidelines and MdM's strategy
Ensure the development, implementation or update of tools for the management of SRHR/GBV activities: Standard Operating Procedures, tools for data collection, management and analysis, monitoring and technical guidance
Actively participate to coordination efforts with GBV actors (regional gender sub-cluster, protection cluster etc.), to facilitate information and good practices sharing and to ensure safe referrals of survivors based on updated and reliable referral pathway
In close collaboration with the Medical Coordinator, monitor local partnerships established with national NGOs and/or state actors and provide technical support to partners for the smooth implementation of GBV activities
Participate in the writing of projects/proposals for donors by ensuring that SRHR services including prevention and response to GBV are properly integrated
Manage the programme’s implementation quality, follow up the budget and project planning, in close collaboration with the Deputy General Coordinator and the Medical Coordinator.


Capacity building & Training


Identify the capacity building needs of MdM team and partners and propose relevant training opportunities
Diffuse and adapt training manuals on SRHR/GBV prevention and response 
Organise and/or facilitate training on SRHR and GBV prevention and response, in collaboration with the programme team and the medical and MHPSS teams
Ensure the quality of the trainings provided and that they use a methodology adapted to adult training and to the sociocultural context
Provide technical support to MdM Program Managers and staff and partners’ staff involved in monitoring and implementation of SRHR and GBV activities
Collaborate with the programme team (e.g.  Medical Coordinator, MHPSS team), to set up a capacity building plan (including training and on the job support) to all frontline staffs involved in the provision of SRHR services 
Organize training and mentoring of the national MdM SRHR officer.


Communication, advocacy, and representation 


Participate in the development of external and internal communication strategy and tools on MdM’s SRHR/GBV package 
Participate in the dissemination of MdM's approach, results and lessons learnt on SRHR, including on the prevention of and response to GBV 
Contribute to the development and implementation of the advocacy strategy following the specific features of the context, in collaboration with the advocacy advisor and referent at HQ level, with the Medical Coordinator and with other actors involved in the response to SRHR/GBV
Represent MdM at thematic workshops, conferences, and strategic meetings, in the country and internationally.


Reporting, information management and internal coordination


Ensure that SRHR/GBV data are collected, encoded and analysed
Make sure that the GBV data management system is in place (that it complies with the ethical standards applicable, data collection tools are mastered and correctly used, and the indicators are well monitored by the program teams) 
Contribute to the capitalization of MdM's response in Nigerian
Share with the Programme/Medical team any difficulties met in the field and propose solutions or adjustments 
Share with the Medical Coordinator/ Deputy General Coordinator the minutes of all clusters/working groups
Participate to internal MdM meetings and contribute to MdM monthly sitreps.
Contribute to the preparation of new proposals and reports to donors

Maintain overview of all donor requirements, rules and regulations; ensure their good dissemination and acceptance by key staffs, with the support of HQ
Carry out regular donor mapping exercises, analyse their strategy for the country and identify new funding opportunities in line with the country program’s strategy
Maintain a database of current and expected call for proposals
On request of the General Coordinator, attend to meetings with donors
Support the mission in the organization of external audit or evaluation


Partnership Support


Take the lead in the preparation or review of MOU or amendments (for instance: Ministry of Health, UNICEF, other INGO or UN agency)
Take the lead in the preparation or review of MOU between MDM France and other MDM chapters
Take the lead in the preparation or review of MoU between MDM Nigeria and local partners


Communication


Collaborate with HQ-based Program Support Officer to develop new internal communications products for the Mission including factsheets / brochures / leaflets / flyers, etc. for the Mission and/or projects
Support program visibility and communication initiatives through travel to field to collect images, success stories and other communications content, as necessary
Support program staff draft or review factsheets, presentations, articles, lessons learned documents, and any other media materials and resources as needed, for both internal and external stakeholders, as requested by the hierarchy with the help of HQ-based Program Support Officer

Perform curative consultations:
Take a proper medical history including: 
Reason for consultation
Duration of the illness or complaints
Main symptoms
Past medical history and treatment.
Perform a correct physical examination:
Inspection, auscultation, percussion, palpation
Systematic checking of signs of severity                              
Diagnose and treat the diseases according to protocols in use (i.e. clinical guidelines)
Write the most important complaints, signs, symptoms, diagnosis and treatment on the patient’s registration form.
Explain the treatment to the patient
Give individual health education related to the patient’s disease
Manage emergency cases according to MdM protocols and regulation
Fill in the registration form for each patient, according to the diagnosis of the morbidity surveillance form
Check the immunization status for all EPI targeted children and referred the unvaccinated children to the vaccinator
