Requirements for Appointment

For appointment to this grade of Nutrition and Dietetic Technologist III, a candidate must:-


Diploma in Community Nutrition, Clinical Nutrition or Nutrition and Dietetics from a recognized institution
Certificate in Computer Application skills from a recognized institution
Registration by Council of the Institute of Nutritionists and Dieticians

This is the entry grade into the Medical Engineering Technologists cadre. Duties at this level involve:- undertaking preventive maintenance and repairs of medical/hospital equipment, plants, furniture and instruments; carrying out minor repairs of health facilities and utilities; ordering for spare parts and consumables; taking/maintaining inventory of... medical/hospital;equipment, furniture and plants; collating and compiling information for research; collating and compiling information on medical engineering services for input into the Health information management system; and implementing medical engineering programmers’ and projects; Equipment fault diagnosis and basic repair and maintenance; appreciating the principle of operation of the standard equipment in most health institutions.

For appointment to this grade of Medical Engineering Technologist III, a candidate must:-


Have Ordinary Diploma Certificate in Medical Engineering from a recognized institution.

Have successfully completed an ordinary Diploma course in Electrical, Electronics or Medical Engineering from a recognized institution and also be ready to undertake a one year work experience in Medical Engineering or Health Technology related field.

Duties and Responsibilities

This is the entry grade into the Plaster Technician Cadre. Work at this level involves a variety of duties and responsibilities of a limited scope and complexity under the guidance and supervision of more senior officer, specifically the duties and responsibilities include application and removal of  plaster and traction; recording of procedure carried out on... patients; counselling patients; ordering plaster and other supplies and assisting in planning and organizing orthopaedic care; take charge of a plaster room, ward, theatre or a section in the hospital besides being involved in teaching duties.

Duties and Responsibilities 

Duties and responsibilities at this level entail; Interpreting radiological images of orthopaedic and trauma cases;  manipulating and reducing fractures and dislocation; fixing and removing casts, bandages and traction to and from patients; correcting Congenital Talipes Equino-Varus (C.T.E.V); participating in the management of minor orthopaedic and trauma cases in... emergencies and accidents; sensitizing and creating awareness on orthopeaedic trauma conditions to the communities; and counselling patients/clients on issues regarding orthopaedic trauma; cleaning and treating simple wounds resulting from orthopaedic trauma; documenting orthopeadic and trauma case; and assessing and referring patients with musculoskeletal conditions.

This is the entry and training grade for this cadre. An officer at this level will be responsible for dispensing drugs/medicines to patients under supervision of a senior officer.

Duties and responsibilities at this level will entail:- decontaminating working benches; receiving and scrutinizing laboratory requisition forms and specimens; preparing clients for collection of... specimens; receiving, collection, labelling and registering of specimens; disaggregating specimen for processing and analyses; preparing reagents; examining specimens, writing and recording of results; dispatching the results for use in clinical management; preparing stains; performing blood grouping; issuing blood and blood  products to peripheral health facilities; and storing blood products according to their requirements

Valid practising license from he Kenya Medical Laboratory Technicians and Technologists Board (KMLTTB); and
