Requirements for Appointment

For appointment to this grade of Nutrition and Dietetic Technologist III, a candidate must:-


Diploma in Community Nutrition, Clinical Nutrition or Nutrition and Dietetics from a recognized institution
Certificate in Computer Application skills from a recognized institution
Registration by Council of the Institute of Nutritionists and Dieticians more

Duties and Responsibilities


Testing, stamping, sealing, adjusting and balancing of weights and verified counter machines, spring balances and platform machines at traders’ premises, verification office and stamping stations
Preparing and disseminating publicity materials for trade fairs and exhibitions notices of gazette and advertise stamping stations to traders
Perform any other duties... as directed by the supervisor (s)

A Diploma in any of the following disciplines:- Instrumentation, Computer Science, Information Communication Technology (ICT), Legal Metrology, Engineering (Mechanical/electrical/Electronics) or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution

Duties and Responsibilities


Testing and stamping of mechanical and electronic weighing and measuring equipment
Collecting data on verified equipment at traders premises, stamping stations and verification office
Sampling pre-packaged goods for quantitative analysis
Preparing testing equipment for inspection and investigation purposes
Preparing weighing and measuring equipment during... trade fairs and exhibitions
Giving evidence in Court on cases arising from infringement of the Weights and Measures Act (Cap 513) and Trade Descriptions Act (Cap 505)
Perform any other duties as directed by the Supervisor(s)

Duties and Responsibilities 

This is the entry grade into the Medical Engineering Technologists cadre. Duties at this level involve:- undertaking preventive maintenance and repairs of medical/hospital equipment, plants, furniture and instruments; carrying out minor repairs of health facilities and utilities; ordering for spare parts and consumables; taking/maintaining inventory of... medical/hospital;equipment, furniture and plants; collating and compiling information for research; collating and compiling information on medical engineering services for input into the Health information management system; and implementing medical engineering programmers’ and projects; Equipment fault diagnosis and basic repair and maintenance; appreciating the principle of operation of the standard equipment in most health institutions.

Requirements for Appointment 

For appointment to this grade of Medical Engineering Technologist III, a candidate must:-


Have Ordinary Diploma Certificate in Medical Engineering from a recognized institution.


 OR


Have successfully completed an ordinary Diploma course in Electrical, Electronics or Medical Engineering from a recognized institution and also be ready to undertake a one year work experience in Medical Engineering or Health Technology related field. more

Duties and Responsibilities

This is the entry grade into the Plaster Technician Cadre. Work at this level involves a variety of duties and responsibilities of a limited scope and complexity under the guidance and supervision of more senior officer, specifically the duties and responsibilities include application and removal of  plaster and traction; recording of procedure carried out on... patients; counselling patients; ordering plaster and other supplies and assisting in planning and organizing orthopaedic care; take charge of a plaster room, ward, theatre or a section in the hospital besides being involved in teaching duties.

For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have:-


Plaster Technician’s Certificate from the Kenya Medical Training College or other approved equivalent qualifications.
Demonstrated ability, initiative and competence in discharging duties and responsibilities at that level more

Duties and Responsibilities 

Duties and responsibilities at this level entail; Interpreting radiological images of orthopaedic and trauma cases;  manipulating and reducing fractures and dislocation; fixing and removing casts, bandages and traction to and from patients; correcting Congenital Talipes Equino-Varus (C.T.E.V); participating in the management of minor orthopaedic and trauma cases in... emergencies and accidents; sensitizing and creating awareness on orthopeaedic trauma conditions to the communities; and counselling patients/clients on issues regarding orthopaedic trauma; cleaning and treating simple wounds resulting from orthopaedic trauma; documenting orthopeadic and trauma case; and assessing and referring patients with musculoskeletal conditions.

Diploma in Orthopaedic plaster Technology from a recognized institution
Certificate in computer application skills from a recognized institution more

Duties and Responsibilities 

This will be entry grade into the Occupational Therapist Cadre. An officer at this level will work under the guidance o a senior officer

Specifically, duties and responsibilities will involve, assessing and formulating patient’s treatment plan; maintaining records and data relating to patients; collecting data for operational research; sensitizing the community... on occupational therapy issues; and preparing periodic reports.

Diploma in Occupational Therapy from a recognized institution; and 
Certificate in Computer application skills from a recognized institution more

Duties and Responsibilities

This will be entry and training grade into this cadre. An officer at this level will work under the guidance of a senior officer.

Specific duties and responsibilities will involve:- providing Physiotherapy services to inpatients and outpatients at an outpatient unit/ward/health institution; assessing patient needs including rehabilitation; verifying and... maintaining information therapeutic exercises, manual therapy, electrotherapy and hydrotherapy as per the patients/clients formulated treatment plan; collecting data for operational research; sensitizing the community on Physiotherapy issues; and preparing periodic reports.

For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have:-


Diploma in Physiotherapy from a recognized institution
Certificate of Registration from Physiotherapy Council of Kenya (PCK);
Current Certificate of practice from Physiotherapy Council of Kenya (PCK); and 
Certificate in any computer application skills more

Duties and Responsibilities 

This is the entry and training grade for this cadre. An officer at this level will be responsible for dispensing drugs/medicines to patients under supervision of a senior officer.

Specific duties and responsibilities at this level will include: receiving, interpreting and  processing prescriptions; recording prescriptions in a pharmacy unit; pre-packing,... repacking and writing instructions on labels; counselling patients on usage of drug in pharmacy unit; maintaining drug registers/books; and stock-taking of drugs and medicinal  devices on monthly basis.

Diploma in either Pharmacy or Pharmaceutical Technology or its equivalent qualification approved by the Pharmacy and Poisons Board from a recognized institution;
Certificate of Enrollment as a Pharmaceutical Technologist awarded by the Pharmacy and Poisons Board (PPB); and 
Certificate in computer application skills from a recognized institution. more

Duties and Responsibilities 

This is the entry and training grade for Diploma holders. An officer at this level will work under the supervision and guidance of a senior and experienced officer. Duties and responsibilities at this level will entail:- decontaminating working benches; receiving and scrutinizing laboratory requisition forms and specimens; preparing clients for collection of... specimens; receiving, collection, labelling and registering of specimens; disaggregating specimen for processing and analyses; preparing reagents; examining specimens, writing and recording of results; dispatching the results for use in clinical management; preparing stains; performing blood grouping; issuing blood and blood  products to peripheral health facilities; and storing blood products according to their requirements

For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have:-


Diploma in Medical Laboratory Sciences or any other equivalent qualification from an institution recognized by the Kenya Medical Laboratory Technicians and Technologist Board;
Registration certificate issued by the Kenya Medical Laboratory Technicians and Technologists Board (KMLTTB);
Valid practising license from he Kenya Medical Laboratory Technicians and Technologists Board (KMLTTB); and
Certificate in computer application skills from recognized institution more
