Conduct a situational analysis of health research systems, health implementation capacities, and infrastructure needs in targeted regions.

Strategy Development
Develop a multi-year, multi-continent strategy for DNDi’s role in strengthening health research and implementation capacities with clear action plan and monitoring metrics
Include components on human resources development, infrastructure support, systems strengthening, and enabling policy environments.
Partnerships & Knowledge Sharing
Identify and recommend potential partners for implementation, including academic institutions, research networks, and technical agencies.
Stakeholder engagement plan for capacity building collaborators.
Propose mechanisms for sustainable knowledge exchange and collaboration.
Resource Mobilization
Support the development of concept notes, proposals, and grant applications to secure funding for capacity-strengthening initiatives.


Reporting line & Interactions


Job title reports to Continental Lead
This role has frequent interaction with DNDi staff and external stakeholders to coordinate provision of work or to advocate, persuade and gain support or commitment. This role represents DNDi for a program/service area and develop and maintain relationship with current and future partners .

To support the Global Finance team in the effective delivery of financial support to the DNDi Eastern Africa Regional Office (DNDi EARO) activities and in the implementation of the global finance control strategy , with a strong emphasis on accounts management and control, compliance and reporting activities.

Responsibilities

Accountancy and Cash management 50% – ensure all financial... obligations are settled on time and the production of accurate, complete and timely accounts for the DNDi Eastern Africa Regional office in compliance with DNDi internal accounting principles and procedures.


In liaison with the Finance Officer, ensure all supplier payments, per diems, advances, salaries and statutory obligations have been approved and settled on time and adequate funds are available to meet our obligations.
Co-ordinate timely monthly, mid and end-year closure of accounts according to DNDi accounting principles and procedures ensuring consistenct and accuracy.
Overall responsibility for ensuring accuracy, completeness and timeliness of accounting information in Business Central.
Supervision and review of accounts reconciliations, payables and staff advance accounts.
Lead the monthly review and posting of staff time charges and subsequent payroll reconciliations.
Oversee the periodic review of Fixed assets register and the Fixed assets donor reporting requirements.
Lead the implementation of accounting system and process enhancements to improve the efficiency of the Finance team.
Lead the development of bi-monthly cash forecasts to HQ to support the adequate funding of ARO activities.


Global Accountancy 30% – support the Head of Accountancy in the implementation of the global accountancy strategy with regards to consolidation, capacity building and process and tools enhancements.


Support and oversee the implementation of the Global Accountancy objectives, including digitalization and standardization of accountancy process and tools across the regional offices
Provide critical capacity building support to the accountancy team including mentoring and coaching, peer review and training initiatives.
Participate in Global Finance initiatives such as revamping and maintenance of Finance SharePoint sites
Review and update the global accounting policies and processes supported by annexes for local specific rules if deviations from global rules.
Develop and maintain KPI’s to monitor the accounting performance
Follow up on the global mid-year and year-end closing
Support the  DRC office by providing adquate support in case of any gaps (Continental support)  and implement accountancy reviews when necessary


External Compliance 10% – ensure compliance with local statutory laws and legislations through:


Ensuring all statutory tax obligations (e.g. payroll taxes, income tax, WHT and WHVAT) are filed and settled on time.
Supporting the filing of annual returns and financial statements with the Registrar of Companies.
Supporting the global, donor and local financial audits by ensuring the auditors have the required information necessary to complete the audits within the set timelines.


Partner management 10% - management of a select number of implementing partners across budget setting, financial reporting, compliance and capacity building and ensuring the implementation of Good Financial Practices (GFP) by partners.


Reviewing budgets submitted by DNDI partners to ensure all activity costs are captured and are in line with the action plan.
Ensuring quarterly financial reports are submitted on time and are in line with GFP principles.
Conducting compliance visits to partners and provide reports to help identify challenges and issues encountered by  partners  in implementing their contractual obligations.
Participate in providing trainings and technical assistance to partners on a one to one basis and/or in workshops.

Experience and Education


Master's degree or equivalent
CPA (K) or equivalent
Minimum 8 years' relevant experience with at least 4 years in a similar role
Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment and matrix structure
Working experience with accounting software like Microsoft Dynamics ( Navision, Business Central )
IT Knowledge especially in MS Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint and Word)
Strong sense of organisation and rigour, with good communication skills
Previous experience in an NGO and/or clinical research setting is a plus

Purpose of the position

The overall purpose of this role is to ensure good donor relationship by implementing all donor’s requirements for specific projects. We are looking for someone with previous successful experience in managing and reporting to donors to add capacity to DNDi’s global fundraising team
This role requires someone who is highly organized, with a head for planning, systems and... processes for managing donor deadlines and data requirements. We are looking for someone who can efficiently manage their own time and deliverables. We are looking for someone with an ability and interest to work with the External Relations (Fundraising) team and to contribute to the success of DNDi. Specific Job Responsibilities

Manage a portfolio of projects funded by donors and implement efficiently all donors’ requirements with the different teams involved (finance, R&D, legal, procurement, M&E etc.…).
Support to project teams regarding donor management.
Contribute towards, population and development of team planning systems for the delivery of donor reports including via Salesforce, SharePoint, Outlook calendar, and other planning tools.
Contribute to the collection and collation of qualitative and quantitative data to support donor reporting using shared systems across DNDi, in a timely and efficient manner for use in donor reports.
Write donor narrative reports with the contribution of project teams, receipt of funding acknowledgement letters, explanation, development, and follow-up of donor reporting templates.
Keep track of overall financial requirements from donors and invoicing systems.
Where required, support input towards donor grant proposals and grant extensions.
Establish relationships with donor project managers and establish the link between project teams and donors funding their project.
Attend meetings and support R&D Disease teams where required.
Where appropriate, liaison with DNDi Finance, M&E, legal and Regional Office staff based in the DNDi East Africa office.
Travel may be required e.g., to R&D Disease meetings in the field, or to meet with External Relations colleagues in the DNDi office in Geneva, Switzerland.

Project Regulatory lead

Accountable for managing projects and delivering quality output through expert services Coordinates regulatory activities in core team


Provides timely regulatory support and advice to disease and regional clinical operations on clinical trial requirements and dossier requirements for national and regional submissions


Monitors progress of assigned regulatory projects/deliverables within established timeframes- Ensures appropriate filing & archiving- S/he ensures timely update in the regulatory data base ( sharepoint, veeva...)


Develops strategic plans and regulatory risk assessments and create innovative regulatory solutions

Reporting line

The Regulatory Sciences Consultant reports to the Head of Regulatory Affairs based in Geneva.
Close working relationship with the assigned disease and clinical operation regional teams to deliver new treatments for neglected diseases in the DNDi portfolio.
