Job Overview
The Head of People Operations leads the full People function and plays a central role in shaping a high-performing, engaged, and values-driven culture. This role partners closely with senior leadership to drive strategic people initiatives, strengthen organizational capabilities, and ensure smooth, compliant, and people-centered HR operations across the business.The position is both strategic and hands-on, requiring strong leadership, sound judgment, operational excellence, and the ability to support teams in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.Key Responsibilities1. Strategic People Leadership- Partner with the leadership team to translate business priorities into people strategies that support growth, performance, and culture.
- Lead workforce planning, organizational design, and talent strategy to ensure the business has the right capabilities for current and future needs.
- Drive culture-building initiatives that strengthen alignment, engagement, accountability, and leadership effectiveness.

2. HR Operations & Compliance- Oversee all core HR operations, including onboarding, offboarding, employee documentation, contract management, HRIS updates, and policy administration.
- Ensure the organization complies with all statutory, legal, regulatory, and internal governance requirements.
- Serve as the custodian of People policies and continuously update them to reflect best practices and organizational needs.

3. Talent Management & Performance- Lead the performance management cycle, ensuring clear goal-setting, regular feedback, fair evaluations, and performance improvement processes where needed.
- Support continuous talent development through learning initiatives, leadership coaching, and capability-building programs.
- Oversee succession planning and career pathing to strengthen internal mobility and talent depth.

4. Employee Relations & Culture- Provide guidance on complex employee relations matters, including investigations, disciplinary actions, conflict resolution, and risk mitigation.
- Foster a healthy, inclusive, and supportive workplace culture grounded in transparency, accountability, and psychological safety.
- Drive employee engagement initiatives and create mechanisms for employee voice and feedback.

5. Recruitment & Onboarding- Partner with the talent acquisition team to ensure a seamless, structured, and values-aligned recruitment process for critical roles.
- Oversee the end-to-end onboarding experience, ensuring new hires integrate effectively and understand organizational expectations.

6. Reward, Recognition & HR Analytics- Support compensation reviews, benchmarking, and reward programs that promote fairness and retention.
- Lead recognition initiatives that reinforce culture and celebrate high performance.
- Use HR analytics to provide insights on turnover, engagement, hiring, compliance, and workforce trends.

7. Leadership Support & Organisational Development- Coach and support managers in leading teams, handling people matters, and strengthening leadership capability.
- Partner with senior leaders on change management initiatives and organizational transformations.
- Support Board and senior leadership reporting, including People metrics, risks, and compliance updates. 

Qualifications, Skills & Experience- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, Organizational Psychology, or a related field.
- A recognized HR certification is required, and active membership with IHRM is mandatory.
- 8+ years of progressive HR experience, with at least 4 years in a senior HR/People leadership role.
- Strong experience in employee relations, performance management, HR operations, and talent development.
- Proven ability to support leaders in high-growth, fast-paced environments.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Kenyan employment law and HR compliance.
- Experience managing HR in a multi-country or tech/fintech environment is an added advantage.

About the role
As a software engineering intern, you will work closely with experienced engineers at Branch and make significant contributions to our products and code base for 6 months. You will brainstorm, design, code, debug, and ship features serving our millions of customers while picking up skills necessary for your career.
Here are some things you’ll do

Build out functionality for... existing and new product lines and platforms such as Credit, Wallet, Payments, KYC, Data Platforms, etc.
Integrate with various third-party systems, including payment systems, identity providers, and messaging platforms.

Minimum Requirements

You are a recent graduate or awaiting graduation.
Have some experience building Backend or Android applications that are more than just toy projects. Applications that have real users or an open source project would be a great plus.
You have a solid foundation in computer science fundamentals, distributed systems, data storage.
Know your way through various flavors of Unix and commonly used command line utilities.
Proficiency with at least one mainstream language like Python, Ruby, Java, etc.
You are highly entrepreneurial. You take the initiative to solve problems before they arise. You’ve started and/or contributed to projects you’re passionate about.

The People Operations Associate will function under direct supervision of the Head of People and work alongside the People Operations team in managing the HR operations at Branch International.This includes recruitment, contracts, performance management, staff welfare & communication, staff welfare & disciplinary, payroll management, leave, benefits and exits/separations.
Duties 

Participate and support the implementation of various recruitment frameworks and methodologies to attract and secure high performance talent.
Responsible for managing all HR administrative tasks related to employee life cycle.
Support the performance management process by liaising with team leaders to facilitate performance appraisals and reporting.
Support learning and development by liaising with different functions to identify learning needs and facilitating training programs.
Participate in handling staff grievances and disciplinary matters.
Ensure completeness and proper custody of staff records.
Participate in formulation of employee engagement programs and implementation of the same.
Participates in process enhancements, improvements in policies and procedures, and any other innovation changes that would optimize HR management.
Ensures legal compliance in the organization with respect to the Employment Act 2007 and all aspects of Employee Relations.
Analyze trends and metrics to develop solutions, programs and policies.
Conduct staff exit interviews and facilitate the exiting staff handover and clearance process.
Coordinate with HR service providers on implementation and monitoring of service levels.
Administration support and correspondences of HR related matters such as staff insurance, licenses and other general office matters.

Qualifications 

Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources Management or Business Management with Human Resource Option.
A minimum of 3 years’ experience in administrative HR or HR operations in a mid-sized organization.
Proven track record of consistently supporting the achievement of operational processes in HR.
Must be a registered member with IHRM and in good standing.
Experience working with HRIMS is required.
Be very conversant with the implementation of the Employment Act.
High levels of maturity, professionalism and personal integrity.
Methodical and organized, autonomous & responsible. 
Solution oriented: ability to identify a problem and develop adequate solutions proactively.
Team player: ability to lead and work with a diverse team.
Highly flexible and able to cope with multiple requests, while ensuring careful attention to detail.

Qualifications

You have 3+ years of experience in product management or a product-adjacent role with demonstrated ability to lead technical teams. Prior experience with a high-growth consumer software product or in a growth-focused role is a plus.

You have proven intuition and skills for designing world-class customer experiences through well-honed user research techniques and mock-ups.

Reporting to the Collections Team Lead, you will be tasked with recoveries of our outstanding portfolio
Responsibilities

Keep track of assigned accounts to identify outstanding debts,
Plan a course of action to recover outstanding payments,
Follow up with debtors through telephone calls to pay the outstanding debt,
Negotiate payoff deadlines, set payment plans, clearing of the... arrears, and thereafter regular payments as per the original installment period, 
Handle questions and complaints professionally and promptly,
Investigate and resolve disputes efficiently,
Create trust relationships and good rapport with debtors, to avoid future issues,
Update account status and database correctly after/during the call,
Reduce the Delinquent debts in arrears by at least 80% if not 100%  
Ensure that debts in arrears are recovered and properly graded in line with CBK prudential guidelines.
